hi! I’m a girl from Northern Virginia, interested in theatre and psych. Also applying to UVA, Stony Brook, Barnard, NYU Tisch, Northwestern, St. Olaf, Carleton, Pomona, and USC (Cal). Weird bunch of schools, I know. :)

I submitted my Columbia app today along with the last of all of my apps. :-)

Congrats everyone! And make sure to join the Columbia Class of 2014 Hopefuls Facebook!

Have a happy New Year! :)

Yep, applying both EA & ED is perfectly acceptable. The only condition is that, upon being accepted ED, you withdraw the EA application (and any RD apps, if they’ve beens submitted).

so i really really really wanna go to CU .
(to say its my first choice is the UNDERSTATEMENT of all time)
i was sick late oct. an hadd to apply RD
but i dnt think ill get in, an i have this unhealthy worry/obsession with the process lol .

chance me though !
i have grades in the high 80s and 90s, with a GPA in th high 80s, i have been in various clubs and things at school (pres, sec, blah blah blah), i ran track, natl honor society, extensive comm service, 1850 on SAT, 620 on sat2 lit an 590 on sat2 US, 5-ap lang, 4-ap bio, 3-ap world (no APs this year), awards for writing, debate, bio, good teacher letters, and all that but i have one problem…
I got jumped in 10th grade and got out of school suspension for hitting the girl back :(. i disclosed this foolishly.

can anyone else who is losing sleep (and hair) over columbia reply me, or anyone who can reassure me? i miss sleeping .

oh, and im black - nigerian to be precise.
i wrote about race and ethnicity in my essay, i heard this is popular.
i can share my essay with anyone who asks, on th 5th of jan…(columbia apps will be in by then) lol .

^ Welcome to CC, callmeaverage–
But this chance post doesn’t belong here. Start your own thread in this forum or in the chance forum.
You’ve turned in your application, though, right? There’s nothing you can do now; none of our chances will affect your actual decision. Best to forget about it until late March. :)

ZOMG!!! Submitted my app two days ago and now i’m FREAKING OUT!!! three more months!!! dun dun dun…

just about to send in my app

im from just north of boston and applying to SEAS. already into bc, fordham, fairfield, and umass amherst and also applying to harvard, princeton, and penn

Hi everyone! I applied way back in november. can’t believe that in a few months, we’ll know where we are spending the next four years :D

did you hear SEAS likely letters are coming out? AH I hope CC sends theirs out soon too

^ did you apply to yale’s SCEA?? thought i saw u there hehe
sup everyon, i applied in December and ummmm let’s just hope that it’s good news on april 1st hehe

^yup I did, and got deferred. was my first choice. oh well

hello:) applying from toronto, canada
to the college…i’m so excited!
i saw that some people got likely letters. so jealous haha

Okay… I have a question. Looking back at all the other RD decision threads, it’s always been Columbia University. It’s not been “Columbia College”. Are we just hating on SEAS? the SEAS acceptance rate may be higher than CC, but it’s engineering and most engineering schools have higher acceptance rates than liberal arts college (barring MIT). Just look at Caltech (~15% acceptance rate)

So why did the OP make this thread a CC only thread?

i agree, with the dude, can the op change it to CU ??, i am applying to SEAS and i like to consider myself part of this forum or does the OP not want us?

You can’t change thread titles, unfortunately. I would assume that the OP meant college in the general sense of undergraduate. However, they could conceivably ask a mod to do it.

ugh technicality

Ahh I was just offered a phone interview since my region apparently doesn’t have interviewers. … But I really don’t like the idea of a phone interview, lol. They gave me a bunch of times and I’m supposed to register for one before they run out, which is a first come first serve basis. They also say it won’t affect the decision if I decline.

Would it just be bad if I don’t sign up for one? I know a lot of these things aren’t “really” optional… What do you guys think?

HAHAHAH oh Bushisms.

Tristan- I’d still do it if I were you. unless you’re really uncomfortable with the phone.

^^ I would do it. All my interviews so far have been phone interviews. Really, they’re not so bad.

Awesome, thanks you guys, I actually just signed up for one in 2 weeks since I figured it can’t be all THAT bad, right? The worse thing that could happen is I don’t get in. Well, big surprise, but it’s not like I’m a shoo-in anyway, haha.

Stupefy: I knowww that quote is so funny! Ah, the fruits of Yale. LOL.
