Official Rice Class of 2013 General Discussion Thread

I’m just kidding Modulation lol. Better to FB chat anyways ;)

What laptops is everyone buying and have you heard if they will perform warranty service on-site. Can we purchase through Rice at a discount and get warranty service onsite - how helpful are the IT folks onsite?

Both my kids have/had mac - ibooks.

I’m bringing my two-year old Macbook and getting an external hard drive to accompany it. In a few years, I’ll probably get a new Macbook Pro or something.

Uh I don’t know much about warranties, but I would like to say that it’s a good idea to insure your laptop (and back it up with an HD, which is common sense). My friend got his new Macbook pro stolen at MIT. Thankfully, his laptop and cello were insured (for only $60 a year), and he got a new one a few days later. I don’t think theft is a problem at Rice (is it?), but I’m definitely getting my computer and instrument insured when I go to college.

Ahhh, sorry for going off on a tangent…

I have a PC because I don’t understand Mac’s

and cause I love the PC commercials. “I’m a PC and I’m 4 and 1/2”

Macs all the way! I’m a big fan of the sleek and simple design.

hahahah yaayyyyyuhhhhhhhhhhhh (:
