What time do you think we’ll get the decision? I feel like I’m going to get my decision later because my professor uploaded my letter of recommendation way past the deadline
I think anything is conjecture at this point.
@mike0928 @Sheerio10 Agree with you guys. This is so anxious having no idea when the decision will be out It could be today or not
I’m still hanging with the idea that the first round did come out last Friday but not for us
@nhbmymymymy I really hope that didn’t happen :)) It would essentially mean that -none- of us on this thread were qualified enough to be in the first wave. That’d be extremely unlikely, I reckon.
Anytime from 2PM until their closing is open game for decisions.
@AGoodFloridian you’re right, I don’t think that is the case. Someone would have been accepted at this point.
At this point actually I don’t know why they postpone the date to release decisions…I’m afraid that it’s because there are too many applicants this year…
Or anytime between now and mid June, which is listed as end of decisions on admission. They have not sent out decisions yet. Sometimes trends change and this year that may be the case.
@AGoodFloridian @SeinfeldFan1 Please dont take my words as underestimating the qualifications of anyone on this thread. I know you guys are all qualified and competitive candidates. It is just things seem so weird and I never ever thought it would be our year to break the trend. The wait makes me more anxious than ever and I usually think of the worst possibility, just to be prepared.
If decisions don’t come out today then that would break every possible trend that has been going on since 2009. We never know for certain, as @mike0928 has bleakly put it- we may just be the ones that break the 8 year trend and set up a new one for coming classes.
Lucky us huh? :))
So let’s sprinkle this with some positive perspective. We (humans) typically seek out the unknown. The unknown represents a gap in information. We try to fill it with information from various sources or try to quantify previous occurrences to complete a bridge over the gap. I had a 13 year career in Military Intelligence and, the entire concept is to reduce uncertainty as much as possible to shore up the planning process for leaders. All you’re doing is trying to answer requirements to reduce your own uncertainty. It’s natural, but don’t forget to take stock of what you know to be true. Truth, not conjecture, should be your bedrock.
- No one here has an answer from Rice. Find someone who does, right now, and then you can worry.
- We have a known timetable provided by Rice: mid April to mid June. Making predictive analysis is not 100%, or risk grading wouldn't exist.
- We are all still kicking ass at whatever we are doing. Entrance to Rice is the change. So, upsetting yourself over something you have no need to adapt to until you've actually gained entrance is duplicitous effort. Adapt when necessary, continue succeeding on your path until a decision point presents itself.
Just take a deep breath and don’t disrupt your progress forward with doubt about a decision that is in the hands of others.
I just checked the 2010 thread this morning and the decision was released on April 29th - a Tuesday. So it may means something if our decision is not released today.
It’s a big deal for me because I have to send a deposit to Vanderbilt otherwise…
@mike0928 well said! Thanks for your solid comment!
Like I said, pivot at your decision point. It sounds like you’re sitting at one. Is the risk of losing Vandy and Rice, if you have to wait worth the squeeze of possibly waiting and getting into Rice?
@mike0982 Asking this thread not to panic/speculate is futile.
Just providing an alternate line of thinking based in logic. If panic over admission is too much then I’m sorry to say pressure of academic life at Rice may be a bit worse. Also, a thousand apologies for my horrid punctuation. I’m typing one handed and get a bit lazy.
@mike0928 I don’t think that adds up.
Well, elaborate for me and let’s clear it up.
Ohmygod. Stop shaming people for being stressed because they might have to lose $400 if they want to attend their first-choice college if their hard work pays off (not that this is the only measure of hard work paying off) and they get accepted.
Who’s being shamed? Goodness I was just trying to provide experience and an alternate way to view things. I was doing that to help. I’ll keep my opinions to myself.
