**Official Rice University Fall 2017 Transfer Thread**

How about to get a more solid answer, I will call Rice admissions right now and see what’s up. I’ll let y’all know the minute I hang up the phone!

It’s just a little rude to say that being stressed about this is an indicator of an inability to handle academic stress.

@usualhopeful I don’t think he had any ill will in his comment, but I do agree with what you are saying. This type of stress (me waiting for my letter of admissions) is much different than if I were taking a Calculous exam.

Where did I say that? Is what I said inaccurate? I think it’s rude to accuse me of shaming someone because I provided an opinion from my experiences. If I wanted to be rude, I would use the hyperbolic tone you’re using. Being offended doesn’t change anything I said.

@Sheerio10 hey thank you so much!

Everyone, I think we are all pretty stressed out and more sensitive due to the wait. I think we can understand for each other if we try.

@mike0928 yes, it is inaccurate. That deposit is more money than my EFC. 400 dollars is a big thing for me. I can wait, I sent my app in January, but I’d rather keep that 400.

Hey man, all I was saying is to consider the risk versus the gain. You did just that.

@mike0928 people are waiting for something that determines their next 2/3 years, they have no idea when they will hear, and no control the decision. Different than academic stress imo. But you make a good point.

Why do you think I’m here? I’m a transfer applicant too. I also am facing the same uncertainty. I just lost my career to in jury, so I’m starting over again. I get it. I was just trying to bring perspective.

Thanks for your comment @mike0928 .

About 2 1/2 hours before they close up. I think Vanderbilt’s second wave comes out tomorrow so they should keep me busy if Rice doesn’t release their decisions today.

My friends are starting to get super annoyed now hahaha, everytime they ask I say the same thing, “oooh, it wasn’t that day, it’ll be today instead!” etc. I think I’ll keep my mouth shut or just give them the admission answer “sooooooon. winkwink”.

Thank you @mike0982 , I know you were trying to be helpful. Just keep in mind that implying someone wouldn’t be able to handle the academics at the college they’d like to attend isn’t the best way to reduce stress.

I didn’t imply that and I won’t apologize for it. I provided a long response earlier on how to reduce stress when facing uncertainty that was pretty positive. But you’re bringing me down making me feel bad for even doing that.

well guys, the bad news is that I called admissions and the woman who answered the phone said, “well decisions for transfer students are given in a rolling basis mid-May to mid-June. As for certain times, they come out whenever they are ready. They don’t do like a ‘let’s send them at 3 o’clock’ they send them when everyone will get a decision”

@Sheerio10 thank you so much for telling us.

@mike0982 Well I’m sorry that I’ve made you feel bad, maybe I’m just misinterpreting post #155.
Best of luck in admissions! Sounds like we have at least a few more days to wait, so I’ll try to keep perspective as suggested but will probably be enrolling at Vanderbilt.

Best of luck to everyone! Hope we all get in!

It is strange that they said “mid-May to mid-June”. I checked all former threads since 2008 and all decisions were released in April. It is strange that they takes that much time this year to come out. From what the admisison office said to Sheerio10, it sounds like there will be no rounds this year

But they also said rolling basis which implies waves. Honestly who knows what will happen.

My biggest fear is that they choose a day right in the middle like May 15th or something and just accept and reject people all at once but I don’t know how they are doing it so I am just going to hope for the best! I am just so tired of waiting :frowning: but best of luck to everyone! We all seem like very strong and qualified candidates.

The only reasonable reason for this weird situation we are experiencing right now that I can think of is they have too many competitive and qualified applicants this year that it takes long time to decide and no need for waves. (flattering myself among ourselves haha)
