***Official RPI Class of 2019 Regular Decision Results***

Hm. Very weird. Guess I’ll wait and see what the physical letter says before I panic haha @Sapphire5

My major wasn’t mentioned? I’m assuming I got in for what I applied for?
To the people who already found the financial and merit aid stuff, where did you find it?

Oh well maybe nobody’s letter specifies and everyone is just assuming they are in for their major. I’d be interested to know.

Same boat @‌mea1997

Looks like some people know and some dont. Might be a server thing, who knows.

Anyone know when we can find out about financial rewards?

@lysieg‌ @mea1997‌ I was just looking at a thread from July and it looks like RPI accepts all students into the general university and you can select whatever major you want

@hungryteenager No i didnt apply for need based aid

Accepted!

Accepted. I, too, received a financial aid letter (link is under the decision letter) and it reported “Rensselaer Leadership Award $15,400.” It is a one-year award. I did not apply for financial aid so this was pleasantly unexpected.

Accepted for Electrical Engineering. Didn’t get multiple letter links on my decision page. I’m hoping that doesn’t mean that I don’t get merit aid or anything like that. Maybe not all financial aid packages are out yet.

Accepted!

SAT 1770 (Math-720, CR-520, W-530)
International Student.

Didnt mention Financial Aid.

All numbers are same as others, better than some recently posted, also a Medalist. Tons of stuff in mailbox for the last year and what did I get? Waitlist. Makes no sense. Makes you wonder…

General Comments: Congrats to everyone!

I’m not certain that I’ll be attending in the fall. I generally like larger schools. Also RPI is $20,000 more than my other choices, so that is a factor. It is still, of course, a wonderful school, but I’m not certain that it is right for me.

Also, I think there was some discussion of this earlier in the thread. If you are accepted into the school, are you accepted into your preferred major? Any insight would be welcomed.

@apccpa, presented with a situation like yours, between the 2 schools, most average family would prefer northeastern, although RPI’s engineering is better. As for directions, what you observed could be a valid concern for many private schools, not just for RPI, people will think deep before they pour money into these expensive private schools. After all, school reputation and strength is one thing, what the kid can make out of it is another thing.

Last year my son’s financial aid letter came out later than the acceptance. Unfortunately I don’t recall whether it was one or two weeks later. And I can’t remember if the merit letter was separate from the FA letter.

I also remember a discussion about the wait list and that many students get off of the wait list at RPI because so many students use it as their safety or it isn’t their top choice. My son ended up going to USC instead of RPI (RPI was #2) and then received a survey from RPI asking him why he had chosen to go elsewhere. For those that are curious, USC has a better Game Design/Game Programming program and the game industry is very robust in SoCal (easier for internships). Still, we were both very impressed with RPI’s program (too bad you couldn’t just move the school to CA!)

Congratulations to everyone!

@DAIMYO‌ @GamerGal27‌

On RPI’s site, it says that applicants who apply for financial aid (need based) get their finaid letters 1 to 2 weeks after acceptance, but students who don’t apply for need based (and are only considered for merit based) get theirs almost immediately. That’s why some students have their letters and others don’t.

@pcrg167‌ I got the same message and I applied for the combined med program, but I know I wasn’t accepted into the program itself
Is that the same case for you or?

@hungryteenager‌ that makes sense. Thanks

For those waitlisted, last year RPI admitted 77 out of the 2,851 applicants who accepted a spot on the waitlist (see C2 in the link).

The year before, RPI admitted 12 out of the 2,475 applicants who accepted a spot on the waitlist.

Good luck to everyone.

@valarmorghulis D does not know if she was accepted or not into the business/law combined program. She plans to contact admissions next week. How did you find out that you were not accepted into the combined med program? best wishes.
