one question had diagram that shows one sperm and some oval shape thing combine and become 4?
I chose organogenesis. well where I live is now 2:23 am, and when I wake up tomorrow, I hope many people would like to discuss more.
@wodoexo I think I put uric acid as the answer…but I’m not sure. I don’t remember the second question
@wldb15
what section did you take? E or M?
@wodoexo M. I kind of remember that there was such a question, but I don’t remember the answer choices.
@wodoexo, it’s cleavage which happens after fertilization.
@TheGreatCatsbyx @wodoexo Oh! I said cleavage for that one!
I messed up in M section and probably 5~7 wrong in first 60 questions.
thinking if I should cancel it
Hi I took the Biology M test. I got phototaxism for one answer, virus, uric acid, and cleavage for the questions you guys have discussed. What did you get for the phosphorous cycle (my book didn’t go over this -_-) question? It was an all of this is true except question with answers like it’s a detergent that increases the diversity in species, something about temperature, and other things I can’t remember. Also, there was a question about what function NaCl has on the body, what did you get?
@Kreatyve NaCl helps with neurotransmitters or something like that (think of the nerve impulses with K+ and Na+ ions)
What did you guys get for the DNA double helix with the 5’ and 3’ ends? I originally thought it would be
5’ 3’
3’ 5’
but now that i think of it, it might depend on how many “twists” there were…
like with 3 twists it would be
5’ 5’
3’ 3’
what do you guys think? does anyone remember how many twists there were in the helix?
@ihasit I also picked 5’ 5’ 3’ 3’… I guess? because I learned that AT has strong bond than CG
gel electrophoresis in M - did you say it was impossible to tell what the 5’ end was? i don’t recall giving specific detail on the nature of the restriction enzymes
@wodoexo… wait i thought GC had stronger bond.
I picked
5’ 3’
3’ 5’ I didn’t analyze it that much … but then again I could be wrong
Also, I searched up some answers.
Egret cattle and flies - Commensalism
Two on photoperiodism for matching, the birds reproducing was photoperiodism not phototaxis (got this wrong, someone provide counterargument?)
Detergents with phopsphorous do lead to more diversity (eutrophication), I picked this one and got it wrong.
Uric acid for reptiles one. Uric acid helps conserve water
@TheGreatCatsbyx
oh really? I don’t remember exactly. I think you are right.
also there was question asking about why sexual reproduction is better than asexual.
I think it’s good for adaptive mutations. Like, some asexual species produce via spores which can be dormat for long time until the environment is right. Sexually producing species can better adapt to their environment through natural selection
@TheGreatCatsbyx what’s your predict score? how did you study for it?
@wodoexo, I just want a 750+ on this one, ideally 780.
I was going to take this test last year so I read PR once, but then chickened out. During Christmas break I read Campbell’s Biology for the Bio Olympiad, which helped a ton for lots of the questions but took a long time to do (1300 pages, yay). I started studying specifically for this test 2 days before the real test day, and looked over AP Bio flashcards. I did three practice tests, 2 from PR and 1 from College board in 2006.
Does anyone have info on the curves? Everywhere I look the curves vary so much.
I put 5’ 3’ 3’5’ and I said it couldn’t be determined for one of the questions (gel electrophoresis)
For the double helix question, I put (B). But what’s the gel electrophoresis question? I don’t remember that Q
For the phosphorous cycle one, does it lead to more diversity?
@polinope, yes, it leads to eutrophication (more algae blooms) I picked that one and got it wrong, so it’s another answer…
@wldb15 it was on the M test! Second to last experiment I believe?
So what was the exact question for the DNA thing. I took the E section and didnt do that good. The things with the 5’s and 3’s were lightly covered in my book. What was the exact question incase I take it again? Thanks @TheGreatCatsbyx
