Official Sat I Discussion January 2005

i wish u were more confident on those, cuz i hav all of those, that i can remmeber, howerver, i cant remember no's 29 and 34, although I am pretty sure I put those. Just not 100%

General idea of passage: Author believes that the authors (Kingston and the African writer) need not be factually/culturally accurate

Author talks about protagonists then uses them to transition to the authors' concerns

she wasn't good at putting in dialects. said so in the passage. do u remember anything more about the other one?

Well...on my last test I achieved near-perfection for the first SIX sections...then 6-7 wrong on the last 15-minute passage (I'm not one who deals with time restrictions well) brought my V score down to a 710.

Regardless, thanks for providing some relief.

for 30, i put something like to show that she doesnt really believe any language or dialect is superior to another

wow a 710? I wish i werent going against u on so many.

That was C, I believe, for #30. That was my second choice. Damn it

thats what i put evad, and it was C

*** is up with this thread merging. There are two versions of the SAT, separated into math/verbal sections, and there are experimental sections as well.

what did u guys put for some of the questions in the judge passage

yeah, now there will be several convos at once, workin on different sections

CJ thought that the plurality was tryin to say what books could be put in the library

They both agreed that students dont give up certain rights
anybody else?

give me questins and i'll try to answer them

Yes, mekrob. Those were it. The Supreme Court passage was arguably the easiest

also, how can the answer for manual:machinery be cynical:earnest?

12 purr:pleasure::howl:pain

15 manual:machine::solo:companion
16 bird:plumage::fish:scale
17 depose:ruler::expel:student
18
19
20
21
22 suffuse:light::soak:water
23 futile:effort::unintelligible:speech

there was another question about what both judges agree on

yeah thats what i put mekrob

hardest one was some red blood cell SC, i had to omit

I put SOLO:COMPANION for manual:machine.

Explanation: To do manually is to do by oneself. A machine assists you in doing something, like a companion does versus doing it solo.
