Official SAT March 10 Math Discussion

Yeah, 88 was the answer.

I have a problem taht i'm very surprised noone has brought up yet.............................

somehting like

x squared -8x +16 = (x)(x-a) + (ab)

"this aleways works, so if a and b are constants then what is b"

i totally guessed and i think i said 3 (just a hint the thing i wrote is not what it actually was)

yup it was something like which number has the largest odd factor. it seemed too easy so i wasnt sure. but i thought 88 because 11 was the largest

thats right
a=3
b=6

Also for the largest odd integer, it was 56.

I just popped all the numbers in my TI-89.

Like I did:

factor(56) = 7 * 2^3
factor(88) = etc

2^3 is even, and 7 was the largest given number. Answer = 56

EDIT: I must have done something wrong. But 88 is the largest...im dumb.

im positive it was (3,5)

if u have a point (2,5) and translate it by (x-1) it moves to the right one space__> (3,5)

how could that not be the answer?

f(2)=5
f(x-1)=5
that is basically what the problem is, the answer is apparent now I hope.

Hellmoto, it was either 3 or 6. I can't remember which.

did everyone get 1/16a^2

I got 1/16a^2, yes.

MNOAAA12 - i was debating between that one and the answer before it/after it.. i think i went with that one.

i mulitplied by 1/2a 4 times

if you used one the awswer could be b or c...but if you choose another integer like 5 you get 1/16^2 or something liek that.

what choice was 1/16a^2 a,b,c,d, or e

what did everyone get for the question with the rations of x-y and x-z

I got 4:5.

ans was 4/5

ok im trying to figure out my score. none omited and 2 wrong. what do most people think that would be

I got the same thing as you, sweatpants, and I think, according to the January curve, we each have a 760.

I'm pretty upset. It looks like I got 4-5 wrong with two of those being the student produced responses. The worst part is that they were all simple mistakes. Oh well I can always retake. What are my chances of 700?

What do you think missing one of the grid-ins would be? (I'm not sure if I missed one, but just in case) Would that still be a 780?
