Official SAT Subject Test - Chemistry - June 2015

I want that 800…

inb4 gets a 790…and cries…lololololololollllll

True and I keep getting a feeling that I’m forgetting something.

I think I need some rest. It’s 10:40 PM here

How hard is the released SAT chemistry practice test? I got a 680 which is way off from my goal of an 800…

@JuicyMango
I think old tests are super hard. I hope the real test is like Barron, it’s hard but it’s manageable and I love the calculations that Barron has

Anyone want to try a problem before tomorrow? Here it is:

The electronic transitions shown above are observed when lithium atoms are sprayed into a hot flame. The various transitions are numbered for identification. Which of these transitions would result in emission of electromagnetic radiation (light)?
2s to (1) 2p to (2) 3d to (3) 3p to (4) 4s to (5) 3p

Choose the two that fit the question.

Personally, I think it is badly worded but once you realize what its asking, it is easy (as are most questions).
Good luck everyone!

btw, @JuicyMango I think the released exams are pretty hard. I missed far more than I thought I should, through a combination of tricky questions (concepts) and mostly misreads (which I blame on question)

@andyis
What’s the correct answer?

5?

@tina23 The correct answers (2 are correct) are 3 and 5, 3d to 3p and 4s to 3p

*This question had approximately 15 percent correct responses.
*The answer is based on the idea that upon descending an energy level, electromagnetic radiation equivalent to the difference in energy level is released as energy, resulting in “light”
*The confusing aspect is the definition of light. In layman’s terms, light is also known as the “visible spectrum”. In these terms, light in the broadest sense is represented; it should be clear, if one was entirely enraptured in chemistry mindset while taking the test, but may be a cause of confusion.
*These points are just my opinion. I may be wrong.

Best luck to you all tomorrow!!!
:slight_smile:

I’m still not done reading the Barrons book…
Should I at least be a little familiar with the activity series and flame color tests?

Ahh I’m freaked but excited for tomorrow! I’ve barely done any Math 2 preparation, but I still think I’ll get an 800 (I have on all my practice tests); I’m more worried about Chem (I got an 800 (raw = 79) on the last Barron’s practice test, though, so hopefully that will be a good predictor of my score). I really want 800s on both subject tests.

^Hopefully we both get 2 800’s on those tests. Those are the same 2 subjects I’m taking lol. I’ve done too much math prep but not enough chemistry prep.

I’m taking those as well… and I haven’t really prepped on either of em. HAHA pray for me plz

@JuicyMango No. If the international test is the same as the US one.
Also, I hate Chem… It’s like Baron’s, but with potentially worse curve. Missed 1. No idea how many I got wrong. Didn’t have the time to recheck part C. When the proctor said that there was 20 min left, I had, like, 30 questions left. And I was having an anxiety-induced stomachache.
I really hate the SAT Chem test…

Took mine hopefully only 3-5 wrong

At least what was the hardest question in ur opinion. IMO was the stoic questions…

IMO the whole paper was easy. I didn’t prep well enough for the periodic questions so I took more time on them

The periodic table questions just had stuff like trends oxidation etc… Didn’t confuse me too much

I’m gonna go take it right now. Freaked out lmao.
