i was almost sure it said y-axis..

i'm positive it said the x-axis.

two wrong isn't bad!!! it's only the PSAT. =) smile please.

Well, it's okay depending on where you live. I live in MA. Cutoff is tied for highest in the nation at 222. An 80 in math is what I was counting on. pouts I'm not making the cutoff, when I easily...EASILY...should have.

Argh... that math curve does really suck. To go from 80 to 77 with one missed problem is unfair.

=(

yea thank god this is just psat... i would be happy with 200+.... i could(will) definately nail out a perfect score by jan.

i really dont think national merit looks so good on college apps. if you do very well on SAT national merit would mean very little.... unless youre looking to get a scholarship with it...

-_-

im from new york, cutoff is 218 here :| i am sure i didnt get it :( i got like 5 wrong on the math, iwas also counting on an 80 :| stupid careless mistakess

I'm surprised the cutoff is so high in NY, CT, and RI (222). I think it's 216 here, and I'm pretty sure I got that. I don't want to say I'm positive, though...

as my physics teacher says... its not the elephants that bite you, its the mosquitoes....(the small things)

its so lame but so true :'(

Yes, that and elephants don't bite; they trample over those foolish enough to stand in their way.

I was expecting to do poorly (SAT confidence is low) but, judging from the posts, I'm proud to say I did... okay! I am frustrated that with math though- I had no time to check it- and I made that common mistake over the y/x axis problem; if I didn't notice that, what other careless mistakes did I make?

ANYWAY, it doesn't matter. It's over. It's just the PSAT, it's practice. Now, we can go read or watch tv or do homework or eat. Or even start practicing for the regular SAT. Yay!

ugh, that test was awful.

the verbal was so hard.

and to answer the x-axis/y-axis debate..

i KNOW it was the x axis cuz i stared at the question for about 10 minutes. and got it wrong.

but at least i know what the question was...

^lol! Yes, confirmation. Everyone who said y-axis was stressing me out because that math curve is just CRUEL. -1 and it's, what, 76?

Which means I have about a 76 assuming I didn't screw up anything else.

Which means overall, I should have at least 116 (+20 for CR, +20 writing, the lowest scores)

i think i did really awful on the math.

i didnt answer like 3 of the questions because i didnt have time to go back...

and im just not that good at math overall!

the verbal, which is usually my strong point was sooo hard...quite surprising..

Maybe we should start congratulating ourselves for the following reasons:

We didn't collapse/fall asleep (literally fall asleep) during the test.

We answered the questions and finished the test.

Everyone on this board probably got above a 200, so we're all basically commended! (right?)

Not me. BTW, how do get all that info about curves and cutoffs? What is the cuttoff for Arizona?

is over 200 commended????

Am I the only one who just punched all intergers from 1 to 48 in my calculator on one math question? What else is the way to find that out?

Who, me? Based on that blue/grey packet that the CB gives out to everyone...there's that sample test in there and a sample scoring grid.

Well, not collapsing or falling asleep is a given. Finishing the test is also a given unless you run out of time. And getting above a 200 is not an extraordinary acheivement; not even getting above 220 is. (Edit: Well, getting above 200 is an accomplishment but would be a huge deprovement for me, and a 220 would just be under my state's semifinalist levels, so...)

NorthWestLover, me too :) There's a way to figure out, though...I forgot it, and I had oodles of time left over, so I thought...hey...I did figure out the 1-48, all integers one on my own though. That was all the odd integers, minus 49, and all the even integers, minus 50; hence the final answer was 99.

Serin: I don't know, but it seems like everyone on this board who said they got commended last year got above 201 or so.

NWLover: I did that! I was too lazy to figure out the patterns....Hehe
