OFFICIAL saturday PSAT discussion

sonar, it was stated as being a hypothetical situation. it didnt ask for anything to be stated in the passage

Well, any odd integer r would make m odd (even * odd = odd)

Yeah, I just remembered that.

That was one of the ones I spent the last ten minutes on. Blah.

this curve will NOT be gerenous for math, easiest one i've seen in years. However the verbal will be curved nicely, and writing...well writing is writing. I'm expecting one off on math to be 770 from past experience

I see no difference between this year's and last year's test... I think it will be about the same.

Yeah, I'm with you appliedmath. I was triple checking my math section because I was wary of its straighforwardness.

on the math section they had one about making a chair, was it 96 degrees?

It was.... 10+90-4=96

yeah I put 96.

did anyone put imperious/unctous for the q about how the politician treats his opponents as opposed to what he says behind their backs? I didn't/don't know what unctous means...

Yep it was 96.

How about the last question on the math, section 3? It was where the 1st group of numbers kept being doubled (sumthing like 2,4,8,16,32,64) and the 2nd group of numbers were being multiplied by 2 (sumthing like 1/64, 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2). What is the least possible integer n where the n th term in group in group 2 was more than the Nth term in group 1?
The answers were sumthing like
a) 12
b)14
etc

that freaking sucks, i know i got 3 wrong on math at least :| stupid question about the 6% sales tax on p, i read it wrong for some reason.. i also got that m question wrong, i put I II and III for some reason :O

the critical reading section's sentence completions owned me.. i got itinerate, incongrous/secular and obfuscation/edify. can't think of others.. i put manifesto at first, then changed it to prospecto (wtf?)

sorry it's unctuous

for behind their back I think i put caustic and viroltic

I put imperious/unctuous because i had it narrowed down to two and unctuous sounded cool :)

according to dictionary.com, it means "Characterized by affected, exaggerated, or insincere earnestness"

i said b)12 for the sequence one

i just looked up unctuous.. and i'm pretty sure i was wrong now. so far two verbal questions i got wrong.

Crap, this makes 1 wrong grid-in and 2 wrong math M.C. Not good :(

the answer was 14 or did i put 12?
lets check
1/64 1/32 1/16 1/8 1/4 1/2 1 2 4 8 16 32
2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 24 26

Yep I got 12 as well hopefully...I'd be in a peril if I put down 14.

Sequence question

I: 2n
II 1/64 * 2^(n-1)

II exceeds I when n = 12

are you sure it was 14?
