Official seo 2010-2011 thread!!!!

@ IBD247 - I personally didn’t get an additional phone interview after my in person, but my two friends did. They said they asked pretty basic questions mostly centered around “why exactly do you want to do ibanking”. They also asked house keeping questions such as “when do you finish the spring semester?” and “Did you apply to any other banks?” If you are waiting on a phone call I would stay up to date with the markets. I think they catch a few ‘sleepers’ (i.e, people who stay current on market trends only until their interview). Don’t be one of those guys…know about anything big happening in the market and areas related to the program you are applying to at least until they give you a firm yes or no decision. Good luck!

As for a time frame…I know it took some people WEEKS to hear back. They called me within half a week to give me the offer. Just stay prepared and be patient. Don’t be caught ‘sleeping’. Hope this helps.

For anyone waiting to do an in person interview make sure you send thank you notes/emails to your interviewers within 24 hrs of the interview!

Someone should make a new facebook group that has the same naming scheme as the older groups, IE: SEO Intern Class of 2011

I’ve been in touch with a few of the guys on here joining the IB program, looking forward to meeting everyone during orientation

leveragedsellout,

I’m just going to make another group with that name. The person won’t accept me into the group I was talking about a couple of posts ago and i’m not a very patient person lol…feel free to join and spread the word. I’m IB too btw.

Thanks Street. I got the offer, feels so much better on the other side already.

Is anyone else participating in the MLT program also

^ Is that allowed? Doesn’t MLT do career placement as well?

Has anyone heard back about seo-u result? or does anyone who already did seo-u in the past remember when they heard back?

According to SEO’s website SEO-U Program appicants will be notified of their status anytime from March - May.

wow, totally missed that on the website. thanks!

ok, i have a good story for you guys! i applied to corporate financial leadership majors finance and information systems.i had my first skype interview in november first round, then i had my inperson in december, had a followup skype interview mid december. got called mid january because they needed the new transcripts, they notified me yesterday they received my new transcripts and called me today. i was very excited today, they told me they were going to do some follow up questions. before the semester started, i decided i wanted to do another major in accounting which would make my graduation date in december 2012 instead as may 2012 as normally planned. when they asked me my graduation date i told them december 2012 and they told me, yeah but here you it says may 2012 , i told them i know i added another major because accounting is very beneficial to someone interested in finance. they told me, ok i will call you back soon, and hung up, they called me like 2 and a hal hours later and told me that i didn’t qualify for the program because the graduation date changed from may 2012 to december 2012,

HONESTLY i am very mad, the extra semester was to improve my accounting skills and knowledge and i have 136 credits, and in my college the bachelors has 130 for graduatiing. i am puerto rican by the way so sorry for my english. the point is since i graduated a semester later i wasn’t qualified. what do you guys think about this. they were making me questions and suddenly the telll me they will call me later because i decided to study one more semester. what do you guys thinkg about this … sorry forgot to say, for all of you that were accepted, congratulations, and i wish you the best in this experience and in your professional career! thanks

That’s tough Mapr89…Since you would have enough credits to graduate in May I probably would have just told them my graduation date was still May 2012 since technically it is. Then when the time came (after the internship) you could extend it or do whatever. I think you do qualify for the program since you have the option to graduate in May 2012, just without the extra degree or whatever. I mean there is no way to have predicted they would have told you you weren’t qualified anymore but I guess I would have kept it on the DL because who knows, maybe you would want to graduate in May 2012 after all. I get that you were just trying to better yourself and get more education so you would be better in your field…seems like bad timing/bad luck/weird planning/partially screwed. Sorry man…

lol and the think is that im in my 4th year right now i will graduate in 5 and a half years…it sucks, what surprised me most was the hangup after the answer call you later, anyways, congratulations and wish you the best in your internship

Hey ETN i saw your earlier post about finding housing already, how did you go about searching for a sublease? im trying to do the same but Ive found craigslist to be kind of sketchy/not to easy so I was wondering what you did to find an apartment, thanks for your help!

How are people going about finding housing before they know where they are going to be placed? I am trying to find an NYU dorm or something, but I would like to be close to where I will be working.

@Lenina: We searched on Craigslist. My best friend knows the city pretty well so he felt confident enough to know what to look for in Craigslist. I did say we found a place, but it turns out that the guys renting the apartment needs it back early June. We are still looking for an apartment. We will continue trying our luck with Craigslist. JUST MAKE SURE YOU TALK TO THE OWNERS. Watch out for scams.

@Happy: We are looking for a Midtown apartment. We are betting that we will be 25-30 minutes from Goldman & other financial district locations, and 20 minutes from JPM, BAC, & Other midtown locations.

How much are you guys willing to pay for a place? What do you think is a good deal?

ok thanks! ive been looking on sublet.com and its been ok so far

Just received an offer today; FEELS SO GOOD. I’m doing IBD. Does anyone have info about housing?

Congrats pk4!

SEO will send you a “housing information package” by e-mail; most of the information is regarding dorms and student housing. It is a great way to start your search. I am searching in Craigslist and sublet.com for apartments.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks ETNsnotETFs
