*OFFICIAL* September 2012 ACT Science Section Discussion

Just put down ur thoughts and questions pls

Science was so hard… I was like, “Is this real life?” So much worse than Princeton Review or the official 2012 - 2013 packet. I got.minus 4 on the packet. I’m praying for, at the most, minus 8.

No me gusta </3 this test killed me  but i hope i lucked out and at least got a 24 LOL

It was tough, but I only had one part where I was stumped and it was the DNA hypothesis, what was going on with that?

OMG THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE!!! I got a 34 last time but I had to guess on TEN FREAKING QUESTIONS on today’s science section. That last passage was like the ACT people saying “haha screw you!”

I really bombed this. Found out in the middle of a section I was reading the data wrong. I had to guess on at least 7 of the questions. When I’m pretty sure I got like a 35-36 on English, Reading and a 33 on Math, having a science in the 20s really screws things up for me.

well hopefully they have a large curve on the science or everyones scores will be tanked

"OMG THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE!!! I got a 34 last time but I had to guess on TEN FREAKING QUESTIONS on today’s science section. That last passage was like the ACT people saying ‘haha screw you!’ "

Exact same as me. 34 Science on another ACT, probably sub 30 this time. I still don’t know what was even going on at some points.

IIRC, the science curve is always the most brutal. I’m fully expecting something in the middle upper 20s. Everything else in the Mid 30s.

I swear, the ACT people hate me. I was legitimately thinking I was on track for a 36 until the new section (called “F U”) that they used instead of the science section

So damn hard… I was getting 34-36 on practices… There’s no way I broke 30 on this one

I went from almost ripping my hair out during the science section from not understanding **** in the last section to closing the book once it was done and laughing at how *ing irresponsible and unprofessional it is for this piece of * corporation ACT produces a book with five practice tests with science sections that do not even compare in the least bit to how impossible it was on this test. Me doing poorly on this section was not my fault. I have studied for this more than anything else in my life, and was adequately prepared for every single damn section on this test based on what the red book gave me. Got 30+s all around on every section on every test in the red book, didn’t come close today in science. Absolutely pathetic.

Typically, I would post questions that I had on the science portion here, but I can’t because my mind has been so utterly ******

I felt like the questions were not designed for a timed test. It was like I didn’t have enough time to take in any of the information correctly and actually think critically. Most of the test I went through scratching off off the wall answers, but when it came down to actually knowing them I was blank. If we had an hour to do this test it probably would have been much easier. I felt like I was racing the whole time, nothing like the Feb. test.

We are suing for mental anguish. Seriously, what did I just take? I wanted to rip my test in half screaming obscenities by passage V.

hard as ****…

Seeing that everyone here including me, thought the science section was terrible… (last passage in particular), this means that the curve should be a lot better shouldn’t it? It’s usually brutal. The scales I see in the ACT RED BOOK are god awful… hopefully everyone else in the country did just as bad as us

Does the whole country have the same test?

There was one question in the beginning about something cooler/hotter more saline/less saline? I think the answer was cooler and something else but how the hell were you supposed to figure out the salinity? was that an outside knowledge question?

If anyone says that they finished and felt good about it, I will call you a liar. No one could take those 40 questions of hell in 35 minutes. *** ACT
