the last one was like, which hypothesis, if any, does test tube 1 disprove. I put it disproves no hypothesis because no replication cycles or anything had occurred in test tube 1 yet. is this correct?

BUBBLE PATTERN PLEASE! For the last 4, i put b-h-b-h

What was the answer to… 38 I think. It asked about DNA/hypothesis and had long answers.
I chose the one that said that test tube 2 was theorized to be in between testtube 1 and 3…

Science bubble pattern for last 5 was like GDJAJ, or atleast thats what I put I think.

Fine. I remember putting, for the last 4 bubbles, 2nd 2nd 3rd 4th (bubble)

Rofling at the differences between the four different sets of bubble solutions posted.

LOL yea! I had Form 70D, you? Does Form even matter? haha

Does anyone remember if the answer to any of the last 9 questions was C/H?

70D ftw
10char

SCIENCE WAS BRUTAL! I felt like the ACT wanted all the students to commit suicide right then and there! I was like on question 28 when the proctor said 5 minutes! Had to guess on like ten… I swear the curve better be generous! >:/ Otherwise, I am screwed!

BTW, I also felt that the questions required knowledge… I was lost!

I agree, practice tests were nothing compared to this! My mind just shut down on the science section I was just like WHAT HAPPEND!

i’ve only taken a couple of practice tests and my scores are usually 24-26 because i never finish. as usual, i didn’t finish this section but surprisingly managed to do better. that is not to say i feel confident about my score though.

course, i am a musician, and i’ve done that DNA lab, and i’m taking ap chem this year and we just got done reviewing stochiometry and net ionic equations = the reason why i did better than expected. still expecting a 24 though.

for the two compds i guessed 100% and 0% n14 and n15.

i read out of the text ssDNA was the template.

@maiden, i also got .2.

i got .55ml for something about how much volume of water was drained out of the plant.

for that other question i knew it was less cooler but i could not remember how salinity worked so i guessed more saline.

If it makes anybody feel any better, the girl sitting next to me had a nervous breakdown like 10 minutes left in the science test and was shaking and crying. We asked her what was wrong and she said she couldnt take the test anymore and she just wanted to leave and didnt even answer the last couple of passages because she was so dicourages.

To me, I thought it was kinda easy at first, started to suck, then the last one was hell on earth. I wish there were answers like “not enough information to answer question” like in the math section. That would have been my answer every time.

I had a discussion with my friends post-test, and we all talked about how HARD that section was! It was by far so much easier in June, than today’s test. I guessed on half because I couldn’t really understand what was even going on. I had a bunch of questions about nitrate, phosphates, frequency, and I just didn’t even know what to do. I think I did sooo bad on that section, but hopefully I can raise my score in that part the next time I take it.

How did you guys do on Science? I thought this section is the easiest section on today’s ACT. AP Bio and AP Chem knowledge really helped me.

And oh my god…Reading…killer.

What was the answer to number 37 or 38. It had the paragraph long answers talking about the hypothesis. I chose the one that said something about 2 being between 1 and 3 I think…

This might be of help, as it is the exact same experiment:

Thanks for blessing us all with this much needed insight and knowledge. Seriously.

My question submission to the ACT:

I took the ACT test this morning and was appalled by the science section. I have been doing many practice tests on my own from Real ACT, and have been getting between a 33 and 36 on the tests. I have also been finishing the practice tests roughly 2 minutes before time was called. In the test today, I had 4 questions I had to bubble randomly before time was called because I didn’t get to them, the competing scientists question was presented in a completely different format than the practice tests, and rest of the test was significantly harder than normal.

I understand that you pre-determine the curve, but I would like to inquire about the possibility of taking a statistical sampling of the scores that come in and re-evaluating your curve (and applying it to all tests that have to be graded after some scores go out, obviously). I know this is not in parallel with your conventional grading approach, but I’ve also never seen a test as hard myself, and opinions of other test-takers around the nation seem to be consistent with my observation. Included is the link to the college confidential forum on the topic:

I hope you take my idea into serious consideration. Thank you.

Wait, how do you know that they do the curve beforehand??? I’m pretty sure that that would only be for “recycled” tests, and as far as I can tell, the one today appeared to be a new one.
