Official spring 2011 transfer thread

Anyone else thinking of transferring to BC in the Spring of 2011?

Yeah I am, I’ve already been accepted so I’m for sure going!

How did you get accepted already? The deadline’s still 4 weeks away.

Do you happen to bench 350 and run a 4.2 40?

Haha no…much, much less exciting.

I applied for the fall 2010 semester, was waitlisted, and then offered guarenteed january admission.

That’s cool. I didn’t know they did that.

Hey guys, I’m currently a student at NYU looking to transfer to BC in the spring. I’m really not happy here and I think BC would be a much better fit for me.

I have stellar grades at NYU, my GPA after my freshman year was a 3.93. I had a lot of AP credits that carried over so I’m already almost a junior at NYU technically. In high school I had close to a 4.0 and my SATs were 800 Writing, 740 Critical Reading and 640 Math. I was student council president and captain of the varsity cross-country team.

I really just don’t fit in at NYU and have found that I don’t like NYC at all. I was accepted to Boston College too, and wish I had gone there instead, but I was nervous about being so far from home that I couldn’t easily take a train back anytime. Will it hurt me that I turned them down originally, especially if I explain my reasoning?

So what do you guys thing my chances are of being accepted to BC as a mid-year transfer? I know its tough, but both my college GPA and SAT scores are well above the averages listed on the website, so should I be optimistic? I’m going to the transfer visit day on Oct. 22nd.

^ I doubt turning them down once will hurt you, the fact that you are applying to transfer shows that you clearly are not happy with the decision you made. The fact that you got in once and are getting such good grades at NYU can only be good indicators as far as I can tell.

I know it’s not spectacular, but would a 3.55 GPA at GWU, along with the fact that I’ve previously been accepted to BC as a rising freshman, put me in a good position?

I’m also an Army ROTC cadet on scholarship, which is in large part responsible for my less than stellar GPA.

Has anyone been accepted yet ???

Hi, I was accepted in the summer for the guaranteed transfer for winter. I was wondering if anyone else that was accepted has received any additional notice or anything. Like, an acceptance packet with financial aid and official transfer credit.

I got another acceptance email, so I’m assuming they sent out acceptances!

However, no FA was in it.

Accepted! Woo! Good luck to everyone else!
