Official Spring 2012 Cornell Transfer Thread

How is it going, guys? any good news yet?

I am looking forward to seeing all of you next semester in ithaca!

The application status self-service website is down at the moment…it’s tweaking me out. Plus the mail man seems to be refusing to show up today.

@Benjaminian. Sorry to hear that. I also applied to Olin and I thought my chance is very low. When did you complete your Olin application profile? Is that by mail or email? I think it is wiser to apply to AEM in Cornell, more transfer friendly than A&S Econ. Good luck!

@transfersoon
thanks for the info.
ur right. the different schools in Cornell should have their own threads to make things much simpler.
we should create one.
should it be “Official Spring Transfer ILR” ???

@Richard Olin will review your completed application after 15th Sep and decision will be made within two weeks. They are too efficient!! I was rejected when I was going to mail my midterm report to both Olin which doesn’t require that and Cornell(by fax), which means my Olin’s rejection came before I completed my Cornell application:(. I first checked the application status and then email came.

Created a thread for ILR Spring transfers to make things much easier.
go here: ILR Official Spring Transfer
hopefully, this will be much simpler to all.

nothing today…maybe it’s really gonna coming out in mid-november…

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMOG…nothing.

I encourage those of you who cannot think about the letter for more than 15 minutes to change your current mindset and just live it up. Confidence is key, so stop worrying about getting in and live the present life. Who knows, it could be your last month at your current school, so why not enjoy the remaining weeks before you hit the Big Red? It’s also a much better way to pass the time. I know that the ambiguity of the near future is so unsettling, but it is completely out of your hands at this point. All of us, including myself, believe that we are the best applicants that we can possibly be. And so all you can do now is enjoy life as it is right now, and stop fast forwarding because the best is yet to come.

@umdtransfer6 and I assume a lot of us are first semester sophomores applying to be second semester sophs? Worse comes to worse we can always apply for fall… =)

@umdtransfer6 - Thank you for the supporting words - it’s true, this is only a small step in what we do in our lives and we can all succeed regardless of the educational institution we study in.

Saying that, however, my frantic disposition cannot change. We have all worked tremendously hard to apply to this school, so ignoring the fruits of our labor is essentially impossible, especially, and most definitely if we are not enjoying the school which we are at now. I can only speak for myself but I’m currently at a community college. Misconceptions about community colleges aside, I have not encountered many stimulating people this semester as most of my friends have transferred. Basically I’m alone and I’m fine with that! The only problem is, THIS has kept me sane for the better part of 2 years and now that this wait is over in the near future is eating away at me.

My 2 cents.

And btw, as a second semester JUNIOR, this is it for me - I cannot apply again to Cornell after this.

@deadhead654
It was kind of selfish of me to claim that in a sense. I neglected the frustration of going to a school that you dislike within all senses of the word. I for one am happy at my current institution. But happiness does not always correlate with satisfaction, especially academically. I try to make the best of any situation that I am put in, but when I see the potential to encompass a higher challenge, I will certainly seize the opportunity, as I hope will happen with Cornell. Your frantic disposition is actually awesome because it shows how invested you are in your future, but don’t put life on hold until November - December.

@transferssoon Yes!

^no man, only one GT and one from a college with agreement were notified, maybe they are making decisions right now AT THIS POINT. You are not the admissions committee, plus Deadhead’s stats are not bad, jerks are not welcome here.

Did that just happen? …lol

…some kids. (shakes head)

lol wut…■■■■

What can I say, I have many fans out there lol

I sometimes wonder if people would leave hate comments simply because they got rejected by schools.lol
Anyway, how many students will usually be accepted for the spring? Like 200?

Only 6-7 people admitted to college of arts and since for spring 2011

A little dated but the ILR information packet says that in 2009 44 applied and they accepted 23. Numbers will vary by year and college of course.
