**Official Stanford 2013 Transfer Thread**

^ Don’t forget to mention that you’re modest too…:)

“It is with regret that I write to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to the freshman class at Stanford University.”

IN LESS THAN 10 DAYS EVERYONE!! Lets make ours unique and pretty when we post it though. Like Italics or all in caps! or another language!!!

^Asuraniroskuki

I’m not seeking admission to the freshman class. Been there, done that! If my experience this year is anything like last year’s I’ll be offered a place on the sophomore class transfer waiting list!

i’m applying for junior standing, if that’s possible with my credit transfers. let’s all think positively! :)

I think admission decision will be released on Friday, May 10th, 3pm(PST).

@successcatcher, do you remember where you heard that? Because on their website, it says the 15th…

In 2012, the transfer admission decision was released on Friday, May 5 11th-----four days before the official date on the website.

i think the school already made all the decisions, just depends on when they want to release it

Yeah I’m sure they’ve finalized all the decisions already and it’s just a matter of when they want to release them. On one hand I’d rather get over my probable rejection this week rather than during my finals week but it makes me nervous that if what you say is true, might all know in just a couple of days!

i wish education here in the US wasn’t so darn expensive…it’s so ridiculous that individuals need to compromise cost and quality. i wonder if i’d be able to accept stanford even if i got in.

I’m still waiting. As I took a look back through the last few years of Stanford Transfers, it does appear there is a pattern of early (compared to their posted date) notification. It’d be nice to get that notice this week.

By the raw numbers, it’s a pretty bleak prospect, but the only guarantee in my book is not getting in if I never apply at all, so I went for it. There was a guy with a similar situation in last year’s thread, so I’m hoping my story resonates as his did.

i agree with you: you’ll never know unless you try. what other schools are you looking at? luckily for me, i have a few options, but the price tags scare me.

If you’re right, two more days! I’ve only gotten back two out of five replies, and acceptance and a rejection, and I just want all this to be over. And by “all this”, I mean finals hahaha

On Stanford’s website under admissions news, it states that transfer decisions will be released on Friday at 3PM

So I guess it really is this Friday… I’m kinda nervous! I don’t know if I wanna check especially if I have finals beginning that Monday…

@cba holy ship. Thanks for sharing that! otherwise I doubt anyone else would of noticed. Just two days. Unbelievable. And I am sorry if I offend people, Just wanted to get a few laughs out of everyone instead of tears.

I guess it will be in just a couple of days then! Ah, so nervous! On the bright side, at least I won’t have to stress about it through my finals week then.

Looking back through last years thread though, I did have a question regarding what types of schools Stanford normally admits from. I noticed all the admitted transfers from last year appeared to be from community colleges. Does Stanford generally admit transfers from community colleges rather than 4 year schools? I go to a rather average state school so what I’m wondering is, could going to a 4 year school actually hurt my application? I guess there’s nothing that I can change now but the closer it gets, the more nervous I get!

I can’t see how it would make a difference. I imagine it has something more to do with the types of people who apply out of a community college - turnaround story, compelling life experience, military service, etc rather than the type of institution itself. There are a lot of people competing for so few slots that a good story goes a long way.

I know they will want a reason for transferring because you are currently at a four year and want to switch to another one. I’m sure if you talked about why in your essay they wont hold it against or anything…

Yeah that would make sense to me that it could be due to reasons like that. Unfortunately, my base reasoning in transferring is that my current school is a fair bit too easy, I’m worried I may fall behind compared to ECE and CS majors at more rigorous schools, and that it just isn’t the right fit for me. I thoroughly explained my reasoning on the essay but it’s not like I have a great story in transferring. Oh well, it is what it is.
