*May I note that this was in an area where 90% of the high school did not even know of Stanford until I decided to apply…

I wanna go to Stanford so freaking bad. :(

Have any of you seen the YouTube channel, whatsupelle? The girl (Elle) is apparently from Stanford If you haven’t seen it, look up Hotel Room Song; it’s entertaining.

getting into stanford would be a dream come true!
but i am pretty sure i won’t get in…just that lil bit of hope…

5 days!!!

Lol I see. Well it definitely wasn’t the first time that I had dreamt of Stanford, just the most recent - interesting as well considering that decisions come out in a little less than 120 hours.

Funnily enough, I threw on my Stanford T-shirt this morning without even thinking about last night’s dream or anything else. Yeah… As far as signs go, I’ve been seeing Stanford in the news A LOT the last few months, including sports and other coverage. Plus lots of Stanford clothing line at school. Too many signs… what if they’re just an omen??

I’ve been feeling similarly about Stanford too, Sleeet. I didn’t get to dreaming about it yet, though.

Ever since I was deferred SCEA, I’ve stayed well clear of any Stanford apparel…

You guys have been dreaming of Stanford…? Wow. Enjoy your tears on rejection day. I could care less if I get in or not ‘-’

^one would query why you applied then… I imagine your “why Stanford” essay was particularly persuasive

Hmm. Well it could just mean we’re shooting for a goal with so much determination that we think about Stanford at least one second everyday, unlike you, who obviously doesn’t care. 'Cause, you know, that’s the only way to meet a goal.

BTW, I’m pretty sure somebody as pessimistic as you A) has no goals, and B) would therefore not be welcome at Stanford, as it is a place of optimism and challenges with the hopes of surpassing them no matter the cost.

i know i won’t get in but just in case…
sorry guys i’ve probably missed this out but do they e-mail us when the decisions come out?

^they email you the decision :). The subject line my year was “Your Stanford Admission Decision”

On a different note…
For some people yes. In other cases Stanford’s vast talent pool can discourage someone who has talent. Optimism for a bright future can easily turn into pessimism. This isn’t that bad necessarily. In my opinion it’s better to accept your situation and try to maximize fun within your sphere than to always dream of something grander.

And if you don’t expect anything and something good happens, you’re happy. If you expect something and it happens, you’re satisfied. I’ll take the former any day of the week. With regards to my Stanford decision, I assumed I was rejected. I convinced myself that this would be the case. Same with every other reach school. This made the acceptances that much sweeter. The sheer ecstasy of getting into Stanford was greater than anything drugs could do (peak lasted for four minutes or so, with strong recurrences throughout that night). Not that I’d know what it feels like to do drugs, sadly.

^ Well said! That’s probably some of the best advice I’ve seen on CC! Although, I trend towards having grandiose ideas, so it’s probably unlikely that I can stay in my sphere…but that’s just me!

Man, I love fire drill days, they are going to make this week SO MUCH more bearable.

That’s a good thing…

^Depends on who you ask…lol.

To be honest, there’s a part of me that doesn’t want decisions to come out because I’d rather be left in oblivion than know I was rejected. sigh
Oh Stanford, it’s been my dream school since like 6th grade. If I get rejected it’s gonna be pretty hard to get over it.

Already having acceptances to pretty good schools takes a lot of the pressure off. :)

But I definitely agree with you Senior: set your expectations low and either what you expected happens, or you are wildly surprised! Much better than being really disappointed.

I feel the exact same way!
