Epidemiology is the study of the relationship between diseases and society - not diseases itself, but how diseases spread, get passed on, etc. It’s AMAZING. It’s what the CDC does.

Game Theory was the most fascinating studies I’ve ever done. I absolutely loved it. I actually wrote my final year paper on “game theory found in the Bible”. I used game theory to explain a whole bunch of situations.

^

I’d agree with the game theory bit.
But my interests lie in modeling. Theoretical portions of everything :p

My favorite course was Genetics. It’s so fascinating, and you get to learn about the human factors, which is really my biggest interest in science. There’s also a healthy dose of bizarre and morbidly absorbing diseases/conditions (fatal familial insomnia, anyone?) By the end of the course, though, you’re completely mystified about how anybody ever makes it to adulthood. It’s great XD

I’m probably going to be submitting my application quite late because I put off so much of my writing. I’m wondering, though, about the ‘favorite events’ thing- I’m hoping to round up the people from my poor canceled EC to go out to the Rally to Restore Sanity and the March to Keep Fear Alive. 8D Do you think it’d look too bad if I put that in there once I got back from them (assuming I do like it, anyway)? The problem is, they’re on the 30th!

^^ Edit to my post: …I forgot they combined them. XD Make that the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear. (I still think March sounds better, though.)

I think Rally to Restore Reason sounds the best. :)

Well you probably shouldn’t anticipate something being your favorite event of the year You won’t know until you experience it. If I were you, I’d find something else to write about that defines you. There is sooo little space that something gets left out no matter what. Might as well leave out the thing that hasn’t happened yet But that’s only my opinion.

Considering that it’s just a list of random events in the past year that were your favorite, and I don’t go to all that many events, I think it’d be really valuable to put in there. It’s probably the most interesting thing I’ll do this year, and it fits really well with my favorite EC. (I’d be really shocked if it turns out to not be my favorite event.) Honestly, though, I just want to know whether it’ll look really weird to put that on there, then submit it that night. XD

Hey guys! I have a slightly stupid question, but if it doesn’t get answered I will become paranoid. When it says everything has to be turned in BY November 1st, that means that it is ok to still turn it in on November 1st? Or should I do it October 31st just in case?

Wulfran- I just realized you don’t need to list the date of these events! No reason to even put the date. Duh :)

Reallyreal- I would certainly try and get it finished as soon as possible. If you are capable of getting it done by October 31st, certainly submit then.

Wow, I seem to have missed out on the “most interesting course” discussion. Too bad I never took cool-sounding courses like Epidemiology! That definitely sounds interesting

And for those who were wondering, I’m a girl. I think people should post their genders just because it’s sort of odd not knowing who’s a girl and who’s a boy (granted, some people’s usernames make it obvious :p).

Ok courtney, I guess that would probably be the best course of action. Also, when you send an SAT Score Report, will Stanford get them immediately?

courtney- I won’t list the date, of course, but I’m thinking it’ll be a pretty big event, and there’s no guaranteeing that they won’t know when it is. Certainly, if any of them watch the Daily Show or the Colbert Report, they’ll have some idea of it.

re:gender- I’m actually a girl, even though my username often makes people think I’m male.

Reallyreal- yes, the school should get it as soon as scores are released. So no worrying! I’m a girl too, btw. Though I think that was very obvious through my name and my diction :)

^From some of the emails I’ve gotten, I think that requesting scores be sent to schools actually makes them send everything you’ve already taken even before the most recent scores come out. Has this happened to anybody else?

^ I’m wondering the same thing

Also… CA confirmed my submission but Stanford hasn’t emailed me yet! Has anyone gotten an email from Stanford…?

ps I’m a girl!

As for everyone here being multilingual…almost half of my iTunes library is Reggaeton… so you can probably guess my preferred language :)

I got a confirmation email about a week ago, but that’s because I submitted my app really early lol.

@ minniemouse23424: Reggaeton? I’m guessing you prefer Spanish then? :)

I’m a boy… just in case you never met a JAson before
I think it’d be really cool for those of us who get accepted and admitted (hopefully including me!) to room together or something, if we find someone who we think we’d get on with. Wouldn’t that be cool?
