Well since I’m a girl rooming really isn’t an option- but I definitely think those of us who are accepted (crosses fingers) have to meet up!

We definitely should! Does Stanford have something like an “Admit Weekend”?

BTW… just noticed something. We have nearly the same number of posts as the Yale SCEA thread (short of 30 or so posts), even though our thread was started a lot later (theirs began in July while this thread was posted in September). I think that definitely says something about us ;)

Yes, Stanford does have an admit weekend. I’m not sure when it is, or if that’s even decided yet, but I know they do. Sounds like a great time to meet for me!

So I submitted the Common Application and Supplements today and chose the OTHER FEE WAIVER option when they prompted me to pay. My counselor will send a letter to the admissions office asking for the fee waiver (because being an international student, I am not eligible for the NACAC or Collegeboard waivers).
I have this incredibly bad feeling that Stanford will not receive my Common App and Sup until after they read the letter, approve it and tell Commonapp.org that it is ok, this girl has paid(waived) her fee, you can now send the forms.

Am I right? In this case, if the letter does not reach Stanford before the 1st, will my application be rejected, even though the postmark is within the deadline limits?

Please help.

Everyone, Stanford does Admit Weekend like no one else–it is entirely awesome. For your class it will be held Thursday, April 28th, 2011 through the evening of Saturday, April 30th. Mark your calendars now for good luck. ; )

Stanford does have an admit weekend. I think it was the weekend of April 23-25 last year. If I’m one of the people who gets admitted, I’d definitely like to meet up I dunno about rooming with any of you, though! It seems to me like it might be easier to get along with someone who you know nothing about rather than someone you know over the internet first, because with the second person you expect them to act a certain way and the first person you have no preconceived notions about. Own up- none of us act in real life just how we do on a computer! (There’s so much less time to proofread what you say, for one thing…)

I think that the comparative Yale and Stanford SCEA post counts do say something about us We’re friendlier! (We’re also more prolific… our post count has really shot up in the past few days/the last week or so.) Kaira07 being the exception to that, of course. :P

@boogaloony: If the postmarks all read correctly, and they didn’t specify that you had to send the letter before a certain date (that was before today), then I doubt there’ll be a problem. But it never hurts to ask someone who would know- so perhaps you should drop the admissions office’s email-for-questions a line?

Edit: didn’t realize zenkoan beat me to it. XD hoping desperately I’ll be able to look forward to that!

Whoo! I’m pumped already! :D

Speaking of this, is anybody else feeling REALLY superstitious?

Why should we be superstitious? I actually am feeling a bit superstitious today, though in a positive way. I submitted my app today, and I read my horoscope ten minutes later (no I don’t normally read my horoscope; I just happened to glance at it while reading the newspaper) and it was QUITE positive. “You fit in with the group, yet your exquisite originality will separate you from the crowd.” Could I ask for a better one on the day I apply to college?!

International :(

oh, and I’m a guy xD

^ Seriously? I always had a feeling that you were a girl… looks like I suck at guessing genders (unless they’re obvious like Courtney’s and Jason’s :p)

Wow, that sounds quite auspicious, especially when you interpret it from a college admissions perspective. Perhaps it’s a sign ;)

@fledgling
LOL!

“Raj” is a masculine middle name xD

Ohhhh… that makes sense now :)

Now I feel like I need to look up my horoscope…

I originally decided I wasn’t going to buy any apparel unless I was accepted, because it felt like bad luck. (I know it doesn’t have any influence whatsoever on the admissions process, but I like indulging gut feelings.) But when I was visiting, we walked by the store and saw a ‘Fear the Tree’ shirt in the window. I live really close to UMD, so lots of people at my high school wear ‘Fear the Turtle’ shirts in exactly the same shade of red, and my senior capstone project thingy is on forestry. I had to buy it XD Now I feel like it’s bad luck every time I wear it. But it’s so awesome I cannot refrain.
