I’ve seen internationals on CC with 2100’s get into stanford with aid. If Stanford thinks you’ll be a great asset to their campus, they will admit you. An student asset would be someone with the personal qualities/passions/talents/skills they’re looking for, not a 2400 SAT score. Of course, a 2400 never hurts, but a 2210 won’t hurt either. Be yourself, shine through in your app. Easier said than done though.

I believe that Stanford is one of the few institutions that will give a decent amount of aid to internationals :P

Thanks for the help everyone. I will try to write a nice essay and hope that stanford likes me. I am also apying for financial aid so that chance seems very slim.

Since you’re an international applicant, during admissions Stanford will look at your financial need status, and your chances will decrease.

^ Doesn’t mean it’s not impossible, though (see lordfarquaad’s post). ECs and essays will really be the deal breakers here.

^*It doesn’t mean it is impossible, I think.

I just finished my app, now for a day of editing and then I will submit before I leave for the weekend.

^ Good call. Got confused with the double negatives there. ;)

just applied! do you think a 700 word common app essay would hurt my chances?

^ Yes. 700 is just too much over

Hell yes it will. I thought the limit was 500? Admissions will not be happy, because you will be slowing them down with your long essay.

If they’re a good 700 words, though, they won’t disqualify you for going over. It’d be silly to reject you based on that, since in college word limits don’t really exist. Only suggestions on how long a paper might be…

Francaisalamatt, yeah I agree. I think if the essay is well-written, fits into one page, and gets its point across effectively, I don’t think it would be too much of an issue. The 250-500 word “limit” is merely a guideline and not really a strict limit at all.

Just submitted my application! Ah, I feel so relieved now. :)

Does it take Stanford a long time to process SAT/ACT scores? Because I mailed them 3 weeks before I submitted my app, and on Axess, it shows that the scores have not yet been processed.

Submitting mine today at 8:28 PM PST :)

Should common app essay be double spaced?

I envy all of you who have already submitted your applications. D:

I have the intellectual vitality essay left, and although I’ve written a decent draft I don’t like it all that much…

^ Good luck though!

Many people do 1.5 spacing, double spacing, and single spacing.

I don’t think there is a set rule on that.

How long did it take after you submitted your application for Stanford to email your account info for axess?

Sent from my PC36100 using CC App

Is anyone having trouble copy and pasting into the supplement questions?
