Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Thanks guys, I’m super nervous! I’m used to 1 on 1 interviews, but this sounds like I’m going before a committee…

Goodness. You guys remind me so much of myself last year. If you all stalk the previous year’s thread as much as we did, you’ll remember that REA was a little gory for us- but remember that even those who didn’t get in LOVE LOVE LOVE the places they ended up. I’m at Stanny myself now, so I can’t really talk, but don’t get caught up in the labels of schools. I was actually having a really hard time deciding between Stanford and UAlabama, myself, and my friends chose not to go to their reach schools are really happy.

I’m hoping you all get in, obviously!!! But it’s not the end of the world if you don’t.

^ Why WOULDN’T you go to your reach school? Top schools have better financial aid, so $$$ usually isn’t an issue.

I can’t find 2005 date, but every year it seems like it’s been a Friday, so that’s good news…

@Rush10
Wish you a sincere luck! Hope you can earn as much as you deserve!

AHHH Stanford -_- …
I agree with littledot-don’t get caught up in the labels of schools.
:)

@littledot: Thanks for the confidence. Even though I’ve wanted to go to Stanford for a VERY long time, I’m sure that my life won’t end just because I didn’t get accepted. (i.e. in the mindframe for a rejection…)

Now for Friday…

Hey you know, I think college confidential itself is pretty amazing. If you think about it, right now I’m looking at this thread on my phone on a bus in new York city, and other people are probably looking at it right now on computers and cell phones and iPads all around the world. I think it’s pretty amazing that Stanford can do that for us. In that way we’re a unique group ourselves :)

I agree but I’m still gonna bee sad for months after I get rejected

Some videos in preparation for (hopefully) Friday:

Found out the perfect way to get your mind off the decisions…

Start trying for a girl ;)

Right now I have no more anxiety over decisions. So Epic.

My friend and I are the biggest “players” in school.

Yeah buddy? Yet, you manage to fit in time to post at an alarming rate on CC, show disturbing, obsessive behavior concerning college, and seem to be a prolific liar.

I don’t go to school 24/7. I make 3 posts-per-day, how is that alarming?

Damn, Harvard applicants found out the committee adjourned today, I wonder if Stanford is still in committee process or if they’re finished?

hahah that song cheered me up aeropromaster (:

just applied to Duke!!

Someone want to call and ask? :p

I think they’re closed right now, but I’ll call tomorrow from a friend’s phone, so they cannot find out who I am from my phone number. :)

Oh, I just called, and they said they are STILL in committee, and are not sure when they will release decisions. I asked again “Do ALL applicants go to committee?” The lady on the phone said, “Yes.”

Thanks for the update

@rush10, you might want to go to the school that isn’t your reach school because of financial reasons. While it is true that the reach schools generally offer more need-based financial aid, they also don’t offer ANY merit based financial aid… So at Stanford I would have to pay a reduced rate because of financial aid, but because of what my parents make it would still be nigh on $28,000 a year, whereas I have been offered a full ride to numerous other schools due to National Merit rankings. So, I’m still considering schools like Baylor or Wake Forest, that have offered a full ride, even if I am accepted into Stanford.

Rush10: rock on!
Dapotatoman: mack on!
Stanfordcs: phone on?
