Official Stanford SCEA 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Raqbau i want to partake in lovely banter and talk about myself as everybody likes to do but to be honest I’m kind of terrified of my friends from school coming on here and recognizing me/my obsessiveness!!! Anybody else feel this way??

im gonna go with obama campaign but it depends on how many hours and what they were for

are we not going to know anything for sure until the morning of the 7th if they release anything on the site

^Yeah. We won’t know what day it will be till the day of.

I’m probably most proud of my research. We shall see if Intel STS agrees in January heh.

^same here holocene(:

^AHHH DON’T BEAT ME!!!

Hah I don’t think I have a chance really but I figured I would enter anyway since Yale and Harvard take research supplements so the paper would be useful anyway.

Do you guys have science research programs at your school or did you do this on your own?

ooh. Well my sophomore year I started a social group at my school for kiddos with and without disabilities and then I spread it to all the schools in my district (1 high school, 2 middles, 5 elementary schools). Then I moved it over to my siblings’ district. Not anything like research or funding an orphanage in africa or software development. But eh.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I forgot to include my research on my app nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo no no nooooooo

@Aery WHAT? That’s amazing!!! Good for you:) I really respect that

@rocksupper Really?!? Was it that big of a thing then if you forgot it??

@amy0827 I did it as part of a class but it was pretty big research and I just totally forgot to include it ugh. man this blows

@Aerygold that is really cool!

Hah I go to a regular public school that definitely does not have a research class. I applied to a LOT of summer programs. I ended up doing research full time the summers after 10th and 11th grade through separate programs.

Wow Holocene that’s awesome. What kind of research is it if you don’t mind me asking? You don’t have to go into too much detail.

“operator please, this is wrecking my mind”–just heard this in a song and thought it applied to this.

I wish I had done research…Oh well…

Still, awesome for you guys!

PS: roar at the door, my mind can’t take much more

Edit: I changed my mind it’s too identifying. I will respond to a PM with slightly more info if you want.

Organic chemistry and immunology.

Oh also I’m proud of my congressional award gold medal. It took me two freaking years to earn it and I got it three days before the Stanford app was due wooooo

Hey everyone! I know im kinda coming in last minute but I applied to Stanford EA and wanted to say hello :)

I think I’m most proud either of earning Eagle Scout and the service project that went along with it or of studying and competing in classical solo voice stuff.

sup crewkid

That’s impressive holo.

I did economics research over the summer but so far my paper hasn’t been published. And Tony I spent about 500-600 hours overall… my district even got out a shout out from nate silver in his breakdown of Pennsylvania. I just wish there was more for a student interested in politics/economics to do in comparison to all the opportunities for students interested in the sciences.

I think I am most proud of placing at States for crew and going to nationals with my boat Sophomore year, and I’m currently working on my Gold award so when that is finished that will probably also be on my list
