**Official Swarthmore College Fall 2017 Transfer Thread**

Apparently the decisions are sent via snail mail?

@sc4 Oh? Did they update their site to say that?

Based on previous threads

@sc4 I searched last year’s transfer thread and it looks like decisions were online so I’d think it’ll be the same this time around. I just came back to this site for the first time in a while and swarthmore is the last school I’m waiting to hear from. I really hope it’s soon!

@gluttonousoyster I just reread the thread and I think you’re right. In the 2015 thread people were talking about snail mail but on decision day someone mentioned something about checking on mobile

No word yet from Swat, but I feel that the decision will be released somewhere near the 10th, or on it. I recently spoke to an admission counselor, and she implied that most (probably all tbh) applications were reviewed. They’re probably in the final stages with the committees and such. Honestly, I don’t expect positive news. Even though I worked very hard on the application, demonstrated interest, had an interview, it just feels like it’s all a coin toss :frowning:

Hope we get a decision soon- my transfer journey is just about wrapping up now. Home stretch and no good news on the plate so far.

@AGoodFloridian I have pretty much the same feeling. So far I’ve been admitted to my safety school and another which I’m afraid I won’t be able to attend, since I’m still waiting on financial aid and having issues with paperwork there, and waitlisted at my 2nd choice school. Swat is my first choice, and I worked on the application for months, visited campus twice, interviewed, etc. But I just have a feeling it was probably too much of a long shot to begin with, and considering how few transfers are actually admitted, I might be stuck staying enrolled at my safety and hoping to get off the waitlist at Amherst (my 2nd choice).

I’m still waiting on 5 schools. So far I’ve been accepted by my safety (Bentley) and rejected by 2 of my top choices (although there was little chance I was going to get accepted anyways). Swarthmore is honestly a crapshoot, so may the odds be ever in your favor!

No e-mail yet! I don’t think today will be the day, but we still have a few hours left to see.

I was really hoping we’d get emails today. I thought about calling admissions to ask when we might expect to hear, but I’m not sure how they’d feel about that anyway. Hopefully tomorrow! I’ll be home all day studying for my last final so it would be a nice distraction at least.

I have yet to be accepted to anywhere so I’m definitely feeling very nervous. I only have Swat, Boston College, and Claremont McKenna College left!

@armadaswim good luck! I’m sure there’s some good news coming your way.

I’ll most likely be going to Bryn Mawr if I don’t get into Swat, because I applied to the whole tri-co haha. But Swat is the only school I haven’t heard from yet and it’s the one I was most nervous about to begin with so the anxiety is only getting worse now. :frowning:

@armadaswim I’m on the same boat as you pal. It’s tough when you have nothing to pad your fall every time you get a rejection. It’s what I said from the beginning, I don’t care from whom it comes- I just need one… one acceptance. It feels like I’m asking for a miracle here apparently.

@AGoodFloridian it honestly sucks but what can you do at this point? Just trying to relax and not worry about what is to come.

What I found interesting about Swarthmore is that for the last couple of years, they’ve had a steady amount of transfer applicants, and admitted roughly the same amount of people, give or take a few. A complete contrast from most other selective colleges that have been seeing an spike in applicants (from all spectrums) and a lower admission rate.

(p.s. no e-mail yet! I’m personally in no rush since I don’t have deposit deadlines to worry about :)) )

@AGoodFloridian that is interesting, and hopefully good news for us. Assuming they haven’t seen a huge spike in applicants this year, it might mean we’re looking at a slightly more favorable acceptance rate.

does anyone have any word on when we might hear?

@swarleys Hey there Chicago-Bound :wink:
No word yet unfortunately, and usually the e-mail telling us of the date comes a day or two before the actual date. Soooo, most likely the middle of next week!

@AGoodFloridian haha that’s me! I’m pretty close to set, but I don’t want to put any money down before I know all my options, and I really loved Swat when I toured it back in the day. I’m basically just trying to get a sense of how long it’ll all take; thanks for being so on top of it!

That’s very wise and makes perfect sense! Gosh I wish I could’ve visited the campus, but I’ve heard from many students that it’s BEAUTIFUL <3 I really wish for good news for all of us, the struggle has been these last couple of weeks =))
