As we anxiously watch the freshmen receive their decisions, we realize that our time to step up to the plate is arriving!
So here’s the thread for all of us transfer students to Swat.
Feel free to share your journeys thus far, why you’ve chosen Swarthmore and just general banter. If you feel inclined to share your “stats”, go on ahead but it isn’t a necessity! Below I’ll share some useful links and tidbits about Swarthmore that I think may help you throughout this turbulent process.
Swarthmore Registry of Common Data Sets : http://www.swarthmore.edu/institutional-research/common-data-set
-Here you can find useful information about admissions, financial aid, test scores, etc, of recent classes(including the most recent one). Transfer acceptance rate stands at 11.7%. A little bleak, but we got this!
Ask a Swattie, Transfer Edition: http://www.swarthmore.edu/admissions-aid/ask-a-transfer-swattie
-A great chance to get in touch with a current TRANSFER student and ask about their experiences and advice!
Keep in mind!: On-campus interviews are not offered to transfer students. However, transfer students are able to have off campus alumni interviews. Registration begins this month(January).
If any of you have any questions about Swarthmore in general, feel free to discuss! Best of luck to all of us!
Excited to apply, but sooooo nervous. Good luck to all of us, hoping everyone on this thread gets an acceptance!
Just had my alumni interview today. It went super well, my interviewer gave me fantastic advice for my application based on my story and life experiences. I seriously encourage anyone interested in Swarthmore to do an interview- not only for the sake of showing interest but also to gain some valuable tips on the process as a whole.
@AGoodFloridian hope you get in!
Just us three, the odds are looking good! <3
Hahahah, yeah, I was just looking at the RD thread and it seems like this year Swarthmore is more competitive than ever. That seems to be the trend though, right?
I have faith that we can all get into Swat!
And there goes the deadline~ I submitted my app a few hours ago, a little last minute I know I know.
That was actually my last application, I’m so relieved to be done with them all #:-S
I still have bentley left, but other than that I’m done!

Does anyone know around when we should expect to hear from Swat?
I was just accepted to NYU for fall 2017…I also applied to Amherst and Williams.
Just thought I’d wipe the dust of this one! Haven’t heard anything back from Swarthmore yet, but I’ve got a feeling the decision won’t be in my favor. I’ve got everything turned in except ONE form that I just can’t get in any acceptable time frame. To be honest, it’s a completely irrelevant form that doesn’t have any bearing my academic ability and Swarthmore is the only college that has requested it. Hopefully they can overlook it, but that’s doubtful.
Good luck to you guys!
@AGoodFloridian I heard from Williams yesterday so Swarthmore may be soon.
Oh hey it’s you! @SeinfeldFan1 , thank you for the information!
I thought about applying to Williams but after looking at their abysmal transfer rate and facing that CommonApp question about “research involvement”, I concluded it’d be best to not even dream of it :))
@AGoodFloridian hey, are you happy to see me?!
@SeinfeldFan1 Transfer students here on CC are part of a pretty small group, so it’s easy to find familiar faces hahaha
@AGoodFloridian so you got into Vanderbilt correct? Did you deposit there?
@SeinfeldFan1 I wasn’t in the first wave unfortunately and only God knows when the second wave will be (because admissions certainly doesn’t).
But fate works in mysterious ways. Had I been accepted into the first wave, I would’ve had to make my deposit by now, thus cementing my spot at Vandy and excluding myself from my top choice, Rice.
If by some miracle I actually get admitted to Rice… hah… I might start believing in destiny afterall.
@AGoodFloridian you have a great chance of getting into Rice! I’m very nervous lol.
