Guess what? After enduring hours of unmitigated torture (exams...okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating), I came home to find.... an envelope that said "It's the fat one!" Yayyyyyyy! I'm sooooo happy. I'm actually surprised, in a way, too, but here are my stats if you're interested:

1400 SAT

2100 SAT II's
3.8 UW GPA, 4.2 W

Lots of EC's, sports, etc.

I was very happy with my essay -> I think that's what did it.

Good luck to everyone! I have my fingers crossed for you!

Congratulations, Topper! I can only imagine the excitment in the Topper household today. I'm sure that "floatin' on cloud nine" would be a good description. Big relief, huh?

My daughter got the fat one too!! Thank you, Interesteddad for all your advice. She is absolutely thrilled, and so are her father and I. Congratulations, Topper.

It's funny, today my mail did not come until 5PM!!! That's the latest it's ever come! I was trying to wash dishes, but a window in the kitchen looks directly out to the mailbox--needless to say dishes weren't getting to clean. Then finally the mailman came... I saw a big envelope. When I turned that envelope over, I didn't see the "This is the Fat One" on the back, but then I noticed it was up on the top. I screamed, and started crying. I am so happy right now! I am in the Swarthmore Class of 2009! Thanks so much to all the parents, future Swatties, and current Swatties for all your help and advice!

Hey Elizabeth,
I'm sure you'll get the letter tomorrow, and judging from all the interest it appears you have shown in the school, I bet you will be getting the FAT envelope.

wow, congratulations all around!!!!!! is this like a 100% acceptance rate so far for cc ed-ers? ..i only hope that the rd-ers are this successful crosses fingers

Don't worry about not having received your acceptance letter (b/c that's what it's going to be....) yet, Elizabeth....It's because you live in Kentucky! :) But seriously, just give it another day. How did thermochemistry go?

Thermochemistry went well enough, or as well as it can go, anyway (though I swear my textbook's authors went out of their way to provide us with wonderfully irrelevant examples...). Thanks for asking, though :)

And I haven't said this yet...
Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted thus far! Now you can make the official switch from "spec" to "pre-frosh"...

Now I hunker back down to wait for Tuesday's mail...

I got in too! I am soooooo excited. I started shaking as soon as I saw the, "This is the FAT one," on the envelope. I could not be happier :) Thank you so much, everyone on this board, for your help - especially interresteddad and achat. I am so surprised. I never thought this would happen. AHHHH!

Congratulations, all you Swatties! My D attended Discovery Weekend and absolutely loved the kids she met. She was about to work on her Swat RD app but got accepted ED1 to Pomona. She feels so bad that she won't see her Swat friends on a daily basis, but Pomona and Swat have an exchange program, so maybe . . .

Congratulations on Pomona, Little Mother. I think Swarthmore and Pomona are very similar schools and it really boils down to whether you want SoCal or Northeast.

My mom called me as I was driving home from school....bad idea: it's possible her hearing range has been greatly compromised...
I can't stop smiling!
Thank you, interesteddad and achat for reading my essays - you were both incredibly helpful.

Agh!
:D
-Elizabeth, who is smiling like a madgirl
