Hey. I’m a C1 at Youngstown in the BS/MD Program. Congrats to all that got into the program! Please, if you know what college you have been accepted to, join the consecutive page on Facebook!
As far as the way acceptances go, I was accepted at my first choice.
I have a few classmates that got waitlisted to their second or even third choices.
With that being said, if you get alternate listed to your third choice, meaning that if they waitlisted your there, or if you had two interviews and got waitlisted to your second, to my knowledge from how it happened last year, you got waitlisted to the other university as well.
It would only make sense for the university you may have ranked 2nd or 3rd to waitlist you if you didn’t make it to your first. I did not receive any mail from Kent or Akron last year.
With that, I wish you guys all the best of luck. Please let me know if you need any questions to be answered.
To the people who got waitlisted, please do not panic. Over 10 of my friends got waitlisted and have gotten into the program.
Keep working hard and finish your senior year of high school with a bang.
@Pannaga, each accepted candidate will get an offer from ONLY one UG school (Akron, Kent or YSU). If that wasn’t their first choice, they may or may not be given an option of being on an alternate choice for their top choice after accepting/declining the offer.
The multiple UG acceptances will be for BS only. For BSMD, each accepted candidate will get an offer from only one UG school. This makes it easy for them to make offers to those on the alternate list after the acceptance deadline of March 31. Hope that answers your question.
@eduthiast
I hope its like the Residency match. Looks YSU is confused on this communication as I spoke to her twice (Friday and yesterday). In any case thanks for the clarification. How would one interpret if (our case), we have a ‘waitlist’ from the 2nd choice (Akron). Does this mean 1. Dont expect any letters from YSU. 2. Neomed also will send a leeter stating waitlisted? (have no email or letter yet from Neo). Appreciate your thoughts.
@emerald28 it seems YSU and Kent are running a little slower than Akron. All I received so far was a letter from Akron stating that I was an alternate and nothing from Kent. It seems I also did not get into Kent (first choice) otherwise I would have been withdrawn from the Akron admission pool. Could someone please tell me what the odds are of getting in from being an alternate? Additionally is it possible to determine your position in the alternate list?
@Emerald28 on Monday I ONLY received a single, simple, plain white envelope from Akron stating I was on their alternate list, as mentioned. I have NOT received anything from NEOMED or any other UG school.
@TheLight21
I dont believe it is possible to determine your position on the alternate list. It’s also difficult to predict how many on the alternate list will get offers. However, there were many students who declined their offers last year, and the alternate list candidates were being contacted as late as June 7-10 to fill the spots. The acceptance deadline appears to be earlier this year. So, you may hear from Akron soon. Hang in there!
@eduthiast I absolutely love your enthusiasm, I really appreciate it! I am really passionate about NEOMED and everything it offers, and would love a position and hopefully I do hear soon! Thanks, again!
@Emerald28 Thanks! I received no mail from Neomed, just a letter from Kent. It was dated March 17. I got an email from Neomed notifying me of my acceptance Monday afternoon. Not sure why the letter took so long to get to my house considering I only live about a 40-50 minute drive away from Kent and Neomed both, but I’m just relieved I know where I’m going. It may take longer to reach those further away than me, but it should arrive any day now for any of you still waiting. Based off of the posts I’ve seen here, it looks like Akron had their mail out first, Kent second and Neomed and Youngstown still to follow. I could be wrong about that though. This whole snail mail thing is kind of frustrating!
Took a closer look and saw that though the letter was dated March 17, they did not mail it until March 20 from Kent State. That would explain why it took longer than I originally expected!
Hey guys as an update today I received my mail for Kent and I have been placed on the alternate list (as I predicted on Monday). I am currently sitting on the wait list for both Akron and Kent right now which are the two schools I received an interview at. At this point, I guess I just sit, wait, and hope for the best. Congratulations to those accepted and good luck to those still waiting. Trying to hold on to my hopes right now!
@TheLight21 At the Neomed presentation during the day they held interviews, they mentioned that last year they took about 16 people off of the alternate list. There is always a chance I hope you will get an offer, as well as any others on the alternate list! Best of luck!
