$$$$$ Official Thread - Admission into NEOMED BS/MD Program (Fall of 2016) $$$$$

@Heiditree I was not aware that this policy had changed. My understanding of this was from many many years ago & I was not corrected when I spoke with one of the UGs in the summer about it. Thus, I surmised it was still as quoted above. So thank you for the update! That is definitely a positive improvement to the program over the decades for the students.

@Heiditree - Thank you for clarifying that upon matriculation into the Med school, they receive an undergraduate degree. How has your D’s experience been with the program ? Any concerns ?

Does anyone know, how the applicants respond to their acceptance. Do they :-----
• Mail BS/MD acceptance response back to the UG
or
• Mail BS/MD acceptance response back to the NEOMED
or
• Log into the UG portal to accept the BS/MD acceptance offer
or
• Accept BS/MD offer via a link / url.
Or

• How many days window (2 / 3 weeks) do the applicants have to accept/decline the offer?

@dreamed I’m sure all of that information will be included in the letter/package if you get accepted

@VaishS - Most probably. And yes, the questions were posed, with the assumption of an applicant being accepted :))

I’m guessing all notifications are snail mail and acceptance of offers on students’ part will likely allow some online portal. I guess online portal because it makes it easier to collect $ for deposits if you provide more methods with which to pay, like credit cards. In this day & age, I doubt many would be willing to send off CC numbers, exp dates, cvv via snail mail so online link makes the most sense.

Once the offers start arriving next week, everyone will be busy evaluating them, therefore asking this question now…

Assuming one receives an offer, what factors could make you go traditional route versus the BS/MD route ?
Are you considering where your senior friends are going ?
Are you weighing your decisions based on your under classmen in high school ? (This is more of a psychological / philosophical thought process)
Finances ?
Locations ?
Family ?
Level of challenge ?

Not sure if many will respond to these questions / thoughts …

Tomorrow 3/11/16, NEOMED mails seat offers for BS/MD. GL to all who interviewed during Jan or Feb !!

Yes, fingers crossed for all of you! Just remember not to scare your mail delivery person as you stalk your mailboxes! Lol. Maybe wear hunter blaze orange vests so they clearly see you coming…

I thought you will also get email tomorrow.

@dvrvarma123 That would be great if they also emailed tomorrow! But we were under the impressions emails would not go out until next week as a follow up. Would you mind sharing where you heard tomorrow is also email day?

Not saying that @dvrvarma123 is incorrect, just saying, an email tomorrow, would be great. !!

Those who DO decide to post their decision results:

  1. Decision: ________

  2. Accepted at: ________

  3. Residency: __________

  4. If you got Accepted at one UG while also Waitlisted at 2nd one. Please post both. Accepted at: _____ & Waitlisted at : _________

Hopefully, these will be useful for future applicants.

@dreamed I saw Resudency: ________ and was thinking Wow, already stating what speciality you’re aiming for?! Lol! It took me a moment to realize you meant IS/OOS. I think this process has fried part of my logical systems

@jumbletumbles - yep IS or OOS

Lol I thought that too @jumbletumbles :))

@jumbletumbles and @VaishS - I initially had those choices listed but removed IS /OOS later

@dreamed It wasn’t a you error, it was me! Brain processes slowing down here

Folks, has anyone gotten feedback from NEOMED on admissions?

One more question, does anyone know how hard is it to get a 500 MCAT, 125 in each section, as stipulated for Phase II after 18 months of undergraduate at one of the UGs?

@screenshot We haven’t received anything yet (IS) & haven’t seen anything posted by anyone else either. I think tomorrow & Tuesday will be the days to watch for!

As for MCAT, it looks as if 500 with 125 subscores is the median based on info presented in the link below. So I wouldn’t consider these scores difficult to meet or exceed with proper preparation, rather in the easier side of most BSMD programs. Just my opinion.
