@Dildil thats awesome, i do more of the software stuff, i recently got a macbook pro and im trying to work with xcode but it is quite unstable and repeatedly crashes. I think ill try to integrate (haha, calc jokes) my comp sci side into my interviews in the future

@swagtothemaxâ My son did not apply to this program though.

@shyamaleeâ i think the two most important parts of standardized testing are timing and the song you have going through your head as you take the test. Allow me to explain.

the entire week before my SAT all i did was timed practice sections. Close to the end, i was able to complete each 20 min section in 15 mins and then spend the last 5 mins checking over my answers.

the morning before my SAT, i somehow heard the song pursuit of happiness by kid cudi, i dont especially like rap/hip hop so i dont know how or why i heard this song. Anyways, the rhythm of the song and its chorus just got stuck in my brain and so as i was taking the test, it was just like stuck on repeat. I think because of the rhythm i was able to stay focused and not get scared even when some of the questions got a bit difficult. Most people dont believe me about the song/rhythm thing, its just my theory. hope i could help :)

@swagtothemaxâ OMG I totally get what you mean!!! That happens to me, too!

@shyamaleeâ finally someone that understands me, hahahaha

Did anyone apply to VCU 8yr guaranteed program?

My D applied to the VCU 8yr guaranteed program but today I got acceptance to UG regular admission to the VCU, but acceptance letter did say anything about the 8yr or honors .

Also, how VCU notify about the scholarship?

Did VCU sends a separate acceptance or denied for the 8yr or honors medicine program

@appstatus I applied as well - VCU will not send anything other than UG acceptance until (at the very least) end of this month.

Have you received the UG acceptance from VCU?

How about the scholarship notification?

Thanks for the info.

My son just got an email from UMKC saying that, he will be hearing via email about the interview decision by the end of December.

I think everybody who applied by October 15 must have gotten this email.

@dildi what are your sonâs stats?

@appstatusâ received UG acceptance a couple of weeks back. Nothing on scholarship yet.

Thanks⊠My D applied around Nov 10, and she got the UG acceptance yesterday⊠lets hope for the best.

what are your dâs stats @appsta

@Dildilâ and @shyamalee - under the âApplication Statusâ tab of the UMKC BA/MD profile, what date does it show your âGeneral App Processed/Reviewedâ?

Does anyone from OOS receive interview invitation from UMKC?

@in2llect, this is a good question and My son just checked, it shows the following dates. Which is surprising to me because it is todays date. Does it show something ?

General University App Received /Processed Tuesday, December 09 2014

What did it show on yours ?

@Dildilâ same for me - not sure if it indicates something about our app review or is just systematically updatedâŠ

Did you receive an email from UMkC today as well ?

@Dildilâ what exactly did your email say? Because I got one with the same message like 3 weeks ago, but nothing today.

This is the email I received this morning at 9:17:

"Dear ________,

Thank you for your application to the UMKC School of Medicine B.A./M.D. program. We are thrilled that you are interested in what UMKC has to offer, and that you have demonstrated the initiative to complete your application early in the admissions process.

Your application was complete by October 15, 2014 and is currently under review by the Council on Selection. Based on the complete application submitted, the Council on Selection will choose to offer you an interview, place you on the waitlist to interview or deny your admission to the School of Medicine. When making these decisions, the Council reviews your application individually and holistically and there is no one component of the application that will guarantee your selection for an interview.

The Council on Selection intends to make decisions for those students who were complete by October 15, 2014 by the end of December. If offered an interview, you will be notified of that decision electronically. If you are placed on the waitlist to interview or denied admission to the School of Medicine, those decisions will also be communicated electronically. All decisions of the Council on Selection are final.

We will not communicate any decisions over the phone and we will notify you of the decision as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience as we review applications, make decisions and notify you of the decision of the Council on Selection. If you have any questions about the B.A./M.D. program, please do not hesitate to contact the School of Medicine Office of Admissions at 816-235-1870 or medicine@umkc.edu. Again, we thank you for applying to the School of Medicine and we look forward to reviewing your application.

Sincerely,
