Hi! I’m an international student applying for PLME ED this nov. Is anybody out there doing ED for PLME as well?

@greysfan
Just be aware that if you do apply ED you have to go to brown even if you don’t get into PLME.

Can someone take a look at this thread and help me?
<a href=“SUNY Stonybrook ESFM chance? - Multiple Degree Programs - College Confidential Forums”>SUNY Stonybrook ESFM chance? - Multiple Degree Programs - College Confidential Forums;
I’m sort of lost.

I applied to several BS/MD programs last year so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me. @starlight27 and I have some pretty good experience with various programs so don’t hesitate haha.

For Brown ED, I do see a question asking if the student want to be considered for the college under binding ED,
even if rejected to the PLME. So if the student selects no, then it is not necessary to go ED for undergrad. It might show that you are not sincere towards Brown, but it is not binding towards undergrad. Is my understanding correct or am I missing something here.

Thanks.

@MedicalBoy Mind posting your stats/ECs and which programs you were accepted into?

Also, any advice about essays would be great too, or even any general advice about what you wish you knew when you were applying to these programs.

can someone please look at my thread and help me?

@theanaconda your activities in math are very impressive but as you mentioned your medical ECs are somewhat lacking. I think your best chance is to apply to that engineering/bsmd program you were talking about.

For Brown second question(given below) do we need to talk about courses interested during undergraduate only or do we need to talk about medical college portion also. How is everyone else writing their essays.

@MedicalBoy since you have already done this can you please provide your insights.

"Since the Program in Liberal Medical Education espouses a broad-based liberal education, please describe your fields of interest in both the sciences and the liberal arts. Be specific about what courses and aspects of the program will be woven into a potential educational plan. "

@onlythebest13 Yes I will as soon as I get the time to. If I forget, please remind me.

@bsmdcan I believe they are talking about all 8 years because that’s what they stress, “Liberal Medical Education”. It wouldn’t hurt to describe anything you would incorporate in your medical years also.

@MedicalBoy- Haha thanks for the shoutout. I’m literally going to force you to sit down and post your stats tomorrow #fridaynightturnup

And yeah if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me!!

Also check out @neoevolution 's guide to these programs… it’s extremely thorough and highlights a lot of key points! <a href=“** Combined Medical Program Application Guide ** - Multiple Degree Programs - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/multiple-degree-programs/1341190-combined-medical-program-application-guide-p1.html

I know this might be an odd question, but for those of you applying to UMiami HPME, are you making your essays single or double spaced? The second essay says two-pages in length, and two pages single spaced seems a little long but still somewhat reasonable. Hopefully I’m not missing any directions…if so I probably sound stupid hahah. Any ideas?

Anyone applied to U of Pittsburgh BS/MD? Still not sure if all my materials went through because my application status is “incomplete” but I’m pretty sure everything’s gone through.

@swerve22 I wrote the essays (single spaced I think) over the summer, but I don’t know if I’m going to submit them now. I live OOS, not sure if that will make it nearly impossible to be accepted and I should just focus my efforts on other schools.

@onlythebest13 ok thank you! yeah, I’m also OOS and i know its a crapshoot but doesn’t hurt to try I guess…even though it really does hurt sometimes.

I am a current undergrad at Union College in their BS/MD program (Leadership in Medicine). It is an excellent program that DOES NOT require you to take the MCATs!!! If anyone has any questions please feel free to inbox me! I would love to help out and look forward to meeting the class of 2019 LIM kids!

@CurrentBSMD thank you very much! Did you apply to all of the AMC undergraduate programs or just Union?

@onlythebest13 I just sent you a message.

Is anyone applying to Wayne state - Med start. I understand all programs are reaches, but considering they take in only 15 students per year, do out of the state students have any chance with Med start program.

Any current Med Start students on CC. Do you have OOS students in your class…

Thank you for your feedback.

Do you know the length of PSU/Jefferson essays. I looked in the application as well as googled online, but could not find an answer. If anyone knows the size/lenth of PSU/Jefferson essays, please let us know.

Thank you for your feedback.
