@GoldenRock Thanks for the update, but its not a good news for students in CA. Now CA doesn’t have any direct-medical scholar program.
As you might know, the rigorous courses with great grades that can place you at top 1-3% in your class is a key issue for the competitive BS/MD no matter what you have done outside the class at least it is true in the top BS/MD program such as Pitt Med GAP, NW HPME, CW PPSP and Brown HPLM… Be careful and realistic. GL
@goaltobemd, Sorry if I wasn’t clear, but I was referring to compromising on the medical school end, not the undergrad. In terms of specialties, when you apply for residency, it’s your medical school that will be looked at, as well as your grades, what you were able to accomplish, etc. not really the undergraduate institution at that point.
If you don’t consider in state tuition for state schools, is there any statistics on cost of attendance for entire program by each program. If any one has statistics by program for cost of attendance, please share. Any alumni please share approximate cost of attendance for your program considering out of state students. That will be very helpful to decide during application.
can anyone chance me for all the drexels, njms, and others in east coast?

Do I have a chance at bs/md programs in the east coast?
also forgot that I am on the comittee board of American Cancer Society’s Relay for life: helped organize two of these events
@dadofhskid, often the BS/MD program webpage for that school will have the tuition listed (along with COA) although separately – one for the undergraduate and one for the medical school since they are separate institutions. The AAMC webpage has the current tuition for all medical schools for 2015-2016 here: https://services.aamc.org/tsfreports/
Hello
I am here w one of the bsmd at njit
She says all seven ie tcnj Caldwell rutgers Newark, Drew njit , Rowan will total forty max at a given med school year class at rutgers njms but the true acceptance is lower
Njit is est three
Tcnj 12-15
Rutgers Newark three
Rest are lower so the offer is made but whether the student accepts leads to few nber
This makes sense for my daughter is at pennstate Jeff which made fifty offers and only 22 accepted and is currently at penn state
Looks good
Maybe more awards?
Is there any chance for someone to get into a bsmd program with minimal medical experience?
Most kids have no family experience with medicine but this is why shadowing to gain experience is important
@Turtshell, most likely not. Bachelor/MD programs will expect at a very minimum, shadowing or participation in healthcare experiences, so that you know what you’re getting into by choosing to become a physician, especially at such an early age, in high school.
Hey guys I just want to be very sure. For GWU there is no supplementary application for the direct medicine program, right? right?
What a timing? Spent few hours only today and it is not clear and easy to find. But it states, qualified candidates will be asked to submit essay (presumably after they receive and review the UG app). Obviously that should have a different deadline to submit that essay) and not the 12/1.
For GW Do we have to be accepted to Honors college to be considered for 7 year BA MD program?
Questions on BU BS MD Program. Common App had teacher recommendations. 2 teachers- History and Science teacher submitted them thru Common App. Also additional outside recommender - Hospital Director submitted thru Common App before 11/15 deadline. I went online to check status on BU web portal. Saw recommendation for Accelarated program is pending. Is it separate submittals in addition of Common App submittals? Also there it says english teacher recommendation is pending in addition of History and Sciece teacher. Havent asked English teacher to provide one. Is it required? so we need 3 recoemmedation for BU program? English, Foriegn language/History and Science? can my Hospital Director reco substitute for 3rd reco?
@Dadofhskid , apart from common app there are 3 mandatory hard copy recommendations to be filled out on the recommendation form provided by BU on their website. One from English, one from science and one from history or foreign language teacher. It is a 2 page form with set of questions. Thy had to be mailed by the teachers. Call BU and find out if they will accept them even after the deadline and if they agree work on getting them from the teachers ASAP. I will try to send you the link to this form later since I am on the road right now.
Thanks for reply. My english teacher is not my best bet for recommedation, hence I didnt even ask for it. If I ask her now and even if she agrees to do it, If it is not the most desired one. is it better not to provide at all for English? or provide one which may not be best desired? Wihout English teacher reco- is it automatic rejection from the program?
@Dadofhskid check this link. I think it is mandatory.

Thank you very much @goaltobemd . will reach out to english teacher from last year (She hated me) and take a chance anyway without getting automatic rejection.
