Does anyone know how they decide who to offer admission to for each wave? Do they look at all waitlistees first and make decisions by ranking students, or do they review applications throughout the month and offer in each wave based off the applications they’ve seen in the past few days? I just am wondering where one might stand if they haven’t gotten off the waitlist yet, knowing that mid-May will likely be the end of waitlist acceptances.

I haven’t heard back yet either. Waiting still continues.

Philthyphil I heard that they don’t rank students on the waitlist, but they go though all the applications again. I don’t know how exactly it works tho.

I am still waitling for the decision from UCLA, and I 've already SIR to UCSD. Seem like the end of decision of waitlist is coming, so anxious!!! Congrats to the those who already get acceptance from UCLA. Hoping we could get off the waitlist too~

just got accepted to ucla off the waitlist and submitted my SIR this morning! but still waiting on Berkeley to come out… i would take berkeley over ucla but i’m very happy with ucla right now :)

Thank you @tippytoe…I’m really hoping for good news for your D! I have a strong feeling the waitlist is not over…last I checked Cal had not admitted anyone off their waitlist yet. Fingers crossed…(couldn’t find the appropriate emoticon)

@philthyphil that’s what I’m wondering too If we haven’t gotten notified yet doesn’t that essentially indicate our ranking on the list? Since decisions are sent out and people SIR on a rolling basis, that would probably mean that the first people off the waitlist are the ones they want more.

Congrats to everyone who got a ‘yes’ today : ) @LNmomof2, thanks for the well wishes…I can envision your crossed fingers despite lack of emoticon @ForeverHope, I think you’re right, there has to be some sort of ranking…they can’t just be drawing names from a waitlist hat. Did you ever say where you ended up SIR’ing to? Wasn’t it either UCSD or USC when you started this thread? I wonder what @perkyboii ended up deciding…

@tippytoe I ended up choosing UCLA over UCSB and this is why…

My sister went to UCSB and so I was familiar with the beach environment and the great social life that it has to offer and I am definitely attracted to that aspect of the campus. However when I went to the engineering open house I was disappointed to see that the students were generally unenthusiastic about their major. I asked a student representative about what engineering clubs they were involved in and she responded “I don’t really know, I’m not that involved clubs, let me ask my friend, he might know…” and when the professor gave a presentation he seemed unprepared, and the powerpoint consisted of screenshots of the engineering website lol.
After I got off the waitlist at UCLA, I immediately drove to the campus to see if I could talk to someone about the engineering department, I walked into the mechanical engineering office and talked to the office of the chair and he talked with me for about twenty minutes and told me about all the clubs I could join as well as give me great advice on how to succeed in the program. He referred me to a counselor who saw me immediately with no appointment. I was much more impressed with UCLAs engineering program and the people in it and I know that I will learn to love the campus when I visit again.

@perkyboii Good for you for making such an informed and thoughtful decision. UCLA is where you will flourish and where you are meant to be. As for the rest of us, that remains to be seen over the next week or so… :-S

A good friend of my son just got off Cal’s waitlist, so their process has begun…guessing this will free up some space at UCLA! Good luck to all still waiting!

@tippytoe didn’t get into USC LA probably won’t happen either as is life with disappointment after disappointment.

Living on a prayer with both UCLA’s and Berkeley’s waitlists…wish me luck :)

@dragonnelite I heard that waitlisted students on UCB is accepted 100% percent. So I think the acceptance to ucb is a definite thing, also congrats to all your UCLA offers…

Does anyone know when they STOP letting people in off the waitlist? Haven’t the 3 waves already happened, or are there more than 3 waves?

@Hi3576 I heard that last year they ended around mid-may, but the website does say around June 1st. I think Berkeley just started their wait list process, so that might make a difference and hopefully open up more spots for UCLA. I just wish there was a way we could find out our rank on the wait list! :-/

@ForeverHope, bummer about USC. So you SIR’d to UCSD? It’s a great school! And hey, can’t beat La Jolla…homework on the beach
Don’t know where you stand with your faith, but I’m a firm believer that God can see waaaaaaaaaay farther into the future than we can. Maybe at UCSD (or wherever you end up), there will be a career path or opportunity there that you won’t have otherwise gotten. Or maybe some special lifelong friend(s) you will make there. Who knows, maybe even your future spouse is there. And don’t lose hope yet about UCLA (your user ID is FOREVERHOPE after all!)

does anyone know how many they are going to accept from the waitlist?

@aaskdwqa There is no way of knowing how many students UCLA will accept from the waitlist. It all depends on how many accepted their admission and SIR. It’s pretty much a waiting game for the next couple of weeks.

ohhh i see god its gna be tough

I believe the next batch comes out tomorrow… X_X
