What other schools have you guys been accepted at? Are you still counting on UCLA and if so, are you trying anything to get off the waitlist? And what are you putting in the optional "additional info" box? I'm a resident of CA, submitting an SIR to either UCSD or USC (if I'm accepted) and hoping for the best for LA :( Good luck to everyone!

No one? :/

Hi ForeverHope, you got a bite. I’m a parent of a UCLA waitlistee who is super confused right now. Deadline day coming up, and no other choice seems a perfect fit. Other choices are UCSD, Loyola Marymount, Chapman, USD, and Cal Poly. Couldn’t take the suspense anymore, or the grapevine chatter from EVERYONE who seems to have information “they heard” about UCLA’s waitlist. So I called them today to see exactly how many people are on the waitlist, and if it looks like they’ll be pulling from it after May 1. They (nice gal but sounded like a student) told me they won’t release any of the numbers yet. So. We. Wait. Do you have any other info about the waitlist?

Well, they don’t call it a “wait” list for nothing. Hang in there, but my advice is to assume you’re not going to get off the wait list and move on with another school. Hopefully you’ll be pleasantly surprised some time after May 1, but don’t expect it.

@tippytoe I was put on the waitlist and I received an email today that I was accepted!

Anyone else? I’ve heard kids are getting off the UCLA and UC Irvine waitlists.

@am2007, haha, yes, I guess waiting is part of the waitlist process Just hard when you have to make other decisions in the meantime. And yes, we do know the numbers are not in our favor, so not counting on it…but still hoping! @kokohpuffs , that’s great, congrats! I didn’t know that they go to the waitlist at all before May 1. @Living61, sounds like you’ve also heard of some kids getting accepted already from the waitlist? We didn’t know any UCI waitlistees this year. All the kids we know who applied there got in. Same for UCSD. Seems like UC Davis was the one no one got into this year. Right now, it’s looking like it will be UCSD for us.

@kokohpuffs I too didn’t know they let students know before May 1st, but congrats!! I was wondering what major did you get in for??

I heard that UCI was sending out acceptances from the wait list already. But UCLA… I didn’t expect them to do so so early. I am waiting too for UCLA. Lets keep each other updated.

@kokohpuffs What time did you get the email? And till when do you have to decide? From previous posts I read, decisions are sent in waves and the next wave is 3 days, after the first batch.

@AndromedaSaysHi I was also shocked to see they sent out waitlist acceptances already too; however, I do know someone else who also found out they were taken off the waitlist on the 26th. Maybe they started earlier…?

@RamboRambo Maybe. So does that mean they might release their next batch soon? I honestly hope so.
If anyone receives an email let us know! :)

@AndromedaSaysHi, I read on the UCLA website that you have exactly 3 days to accept if you are pulled up from the waitlist. I assume that’s why the waves are every 3 days.

So do they also tell you if you have NOT been accepted off the waitlist?

@tippytoe Yes, I think that’s why.
@RamboRambo I don’t think they would leave the rest of the waitlistees hanging there uncertain. :)

Rambo, I believe I read on last year’s UCLA waitlist thread that the ones not accepted off the waitlist were also notified. I hope they do. It would be sad, but better than not knowing indefinitely.

I just heard that another batch was sent out on April 30th.I’m going to assume the next one is going to be on May 3rd…

@AndromedaSaysHi This is very nerve wrecking! Any idea as to how many batches there are total?

I read somewhere (maybe on this site?) that last year there were approximately 2900 kids who accepted the UCLA waitlist status, and from that, something like 458 got in. Also from reading last year’s thread, it seems like the waves were done by mid-May.

2013 Numbers:

UCLA

Waitlist - 4,000+ waitlist offers went out; around 3,000 students opted in; 120 CA + 120 OOS were admitted.

Appeal - 1,200 appeals received; 30 students were admitted.

Admission Cancellation - 87 students had their acceptance canceled (majority of them due to misreported grades).
