Official thread october sat 2013 test

Someone please check triangle with largest perimeter question :
By using similar triangles I got the 1st triangles sides as 6, 15 and 10.
Then I got the common ratio to be 30:6 or 5:1.
Therefore the sides of the bigger triangle were 30, 75 and 50.
So the perimeter was 30+75+50 = 155.
Is this correct?

I think the last question of writing is E. It never says arbitrary. Can all you guys talk more about writing sec

Can someone remind me of the last sentence in the writing section plz?

I only remember it talks about conveying an idea

I think the last question is about turbine winds causing noise or something.

Are you sure that the point passing thru (2,4) is not x=2? I dont remember reading “perpendicular to y axis”
Also, there was a question with an inequality like y<x^2 — was the answer to that (-1,4)

The Math sections were awfully difficult.

Who got the scatter plot problem with sandwiches and salads?

I got something like 7/12

@2100please - Even I put x=2 and can’t remember the ‘perpendicular’ word. But I can’t be sure. Does anyone remember what the question exactly asked for ?

Also, in the y<x^2 question, the answer can’t be (-1,4) because x^2 in this case would be (-1)^2 = 1 which is less than y, whereas the question states that y is less than the square of x !

Who remembers the IS about children like toys. I hesitated between," even those that are needed assembled" and “in spite of needing assembly.” I’m not quite sure specific choices . Which one is right? BTW, I chose even those blabla

@catlas
me too
The wording was quite confusing. Took me a while to get it.

How many no errors were there on the writing section? And which ones were no error? I remember the river one, the dorothy one and the cruise one.

I didn’t take this SAT, but were the passages and questions seriously the same as the March 2013 SAT? Like the passage on Cairo and Suriname?

@prodigykyle I chose one with Despite

What was the experimental math section?

yes it was perpendicular even I did x=2 then I reread the question realised my mistake fixed it.
However I agree maths was unusually hard

Did you guys get no error for the writing question about the river? I think the sentence said something like “transporting people through the river before finally bringing them to a meadow” ? I’m not sure of the exact wording but was “before finally” redundant or was it correct as is?

And for the math question with the parallelogram whose diagonal was divided into 3 equal sections and it asked what the fraction of the area of the middle section to the entire parallelogram was? What did you guys put for that?

’‘Even those that are needed assembled’’?!
Was that the exact wording?

was the cheetah question a “no error” or was “allow them” the right answer for that q? I quickly changed my answer at the end and wasn’t sure if I had read the sentence carefully before I answered it.
