Official UC Berkeley 2015 Transfer Thread

@soda4schrodinger I mean you didn’t say you actually had 125 units, you said you would have 125 units by the end of the summer, so technically you would still have been eligible. So maybe it doesn’t matter. Good luck!

@soda4schrodinger If these are all lower division, it’s irrelevant because you can take as many as you want, but only 70 units will transfer.

Second question, if they aren’t:
What are your units through spring? That is what they look at. Summer shouldn’t play in to it unless you’re specifically told by them to take a course then as part of provisional.

I assume they would have contacted you if all those extra summer classes were putting you in jeopardy.

But definitely good you contacted them.

@music1990 That would be amazing.

@lindyk8 I’m taking two upper divs at the moment. My UCSD academic history says I’ll have 111 units, but it looks like it’s counting my W. It’s about 115 on my application, depending on when they viewed it. I distinctly remember reviewing it a couple of times, yet somehow it looks like I did it in my sleep. I even deflated my gpa by adding more units to my A- and taking away a unit from my A lmao.

Would they really have contacted me? Because that would be a huge relief.

Thank you so much everyone! I still feel stupid, but so much better.

Well I cannot say if the high and mighty berkeley would contact you, haha. I’ve been impressed with other UCs contacting ppl telling them they need to add a class as they’re short 1 unit, or telling them their GPA is too low for the major and do they want to switch to another, etc.

You’re allowed as many lower division as you want, they will just transfer 70 semester and give subject credit for the remaining. They will add any UD to that 70, so if those two UD are three unit courses, that’s 76 transferable units.

I think you’re fine.

@Lucazzz Good to know, thanks for the info, good luck with UCB! hope you get accepted!

Well people, tomorrow is the day! Hopefully all of you guys get accepted! I am pretty sure I won’t, I applied to EECS and my GPA is not high enough for that major, I am at 3.69, but it doesn’t matter, I got into my second choice which is UCSD, good luck everyone! wish you the best!

C’mon UCB >n<!!!

Cannot believe we only have one more day. Best of Luck to everyone!!!

Also I just looked on UCB admissions Facebook Page and they said that admissions will be sent out at some time after 4pm

Godspeed

Best of luck to everyone!!

So this is what bated breath is like in real life.

Less than 24 hours left…dun, dun, duuuuuuunnnnn!!!

you guys are so calm in comparison with the last year applicants. Seems a lot of people got into UCLA this year while I was waitlisted.

My stat
Psychology
GPA 3.85 (3.89 after April 1 update)
Major GPA:4.0
Pre-req: 1 in-progress
P.S.: got really positive responses from Berkeley rep
EC: enough amount
Country: international (Japan)

My American friend got accepted with just 3.73 GPA and less EC plus pretty much same coursework with me. I think I was waitlisted because I’m a non-resident applicant (Berkeley and L.A. announced the cap for non-resident enrollment from this year)
I’m so anxious about how much that non-resident cap impact Berkeley admission this year.

Hmm don’t UCs really like OOS and international students?

Ugh though I share the worry. UCB is my top choice and my HS friends are already bragging how they got into schools like UPenn or Harvey Mudd and I’m still trying to get over my shock of getting rejected from UCLA

Chance please?

Sociology
Cumulative GPA: 3.3
UC GPA: 3.75
IGETC: Completed
E.C.: President of Amnesty International, VP of Philosophical Society, Created a foundation for our school called Talon Talks where our professor have debates in front of the community and students. Finished the Honors program and member of PTK.
P.S.: I would say 8.5/10 talked about growing up with ADD and how i took education that was my weakest link in life and made it my biggest strength. Major essay, talked about how i used my E.C. as a tool to discover more about sociology.
Applied: UCLA UCB UCSD UCI
Accepted: UCLA UCSD
Pending: UCB UCI

Additional Information: UCLA and state gave me $21k in grants to attend and I think alot has to do what I did with my E.C. I highly suggest at a community college level, treat it as a platform to experiment. You never know what you may get in return. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDOSNDipiARVzbHfrjNZLQw

@hbui7626 I pay $900 rent including utilities 5 minutes from campus in a private room with a shared bath (only one more roommate). In addition I pay another $500-600/month for food but I don’t cook. I would say on average about $1500/month. The bus pass in UCB is included in your tuition, so you can drive the bus around Berkeley as much as you like. BART is not however, so you’ll need to buy a pass or pay every time you need to take it (I take it only when I go to SF). You can reduce the cost of attendance by half, if no more, if you live with several roommates at the same bedroom and cook your own food (especially if your diet has lots of carbs because it is cheap. I eat mainly protein).

ONE MORE DAY everyone!

Best of luck to you all. I hope many of you get admitted to the best public university in the world!

@Moshe1010 what are the apartments you live in?

I accidently submitted my Statement of intent to register to UC Davis, if I get in will I have a problem?? Im kinda goin nuts for making a foolish decision! Or the fact that I submitted my SIR have an impact on my application??

@Es0085 Nah it doesn’t matter. It won’t have an impact on your admission, and you can retract it if you get in to Cal.

@Es0085 you just won’t get your deposit back
