@momofNASAnerd I don’t know if an application cap would help the situation. Even if students do apply to every UC, they can only attend one, and eventually free spots should open up for the other schools they were accepted to.
Most of the students at UCD believe it’s because the university keeps accepting more and more international students each year. When they have a cap for how many international students they can accept, rather than use it as a basic guideline, they make sure to fill every international student seat first so they can garner as much tuition money as they can. I obviously bare no hard feelings towards international students, but when you see the state of waitlisted students every year, it’s hard not to feel frustrated towards the university.
To everyone on the waitlist, my heart goes out to you. I wish every one of you could be accepted. There’s a great Ted Talk about university students and their success. Even if your university is not as considered as “prestigious” as others, those who work diligently and are at the top 10% of their respected universities are in general more successful than the bottom 10% of the most prestigious universities. You are what you make of your university. Also there’s always TAG!
GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1160

Essays: I mean, I’m an english major so that should tell you lol. And I’ve loved writing since I was in middle school. I was pretty confident in them
I plan to accept the offer, but I’m kind of frustrated with how long it’s taking. I get more and more apprehensive everyday. It’s just so awkward telling people I don’t know where I’m going for college since I’m graduating in like a week.
Same, I didn’t want to participate in signing day at my school Because I wasn’t sure what college I was going to . It’s just awkward not to know where my future is at this moment but knowing where all of your other friends are going
My son is waitlisted at UCDavis for Computer Science with a 4.1 UC Weighted GPA and a 1480 SAT. Davis has been his top choice ever since he visited the campus.
@ouigarcon I don’t know if you know this or not but for UCI or UCSB the admission process is mostly based on the scores so if they got high GPA they can at least get accepted with different major. But for davis its just based on major. so if its engineering or some CS major it will be much much harder than other…
@class22woo each time I call it’s always a student worker who gives me the same generic information. How did you get passed on to someone who gave more info?
This is just making me so anxious. All I wanna do is cry my eyes out, but I’m not because I got priorities like passing my senior year and getting documents done for my backup school. My backup school is not bad, but I rather not go. Just like most of you guys, I want to go to UC Davis. My heart goes out to all of you who feels the same way I do. It honestly sucks because you all qualify.
It’s so nerve wracking because I’m stuck in the middle. I don’t know how things will turn out. And I can’t even imagine getting rejected by Davis and I hope I never have to experience it. I just want UC Davis to hurry up… :’(
Is there a lot of applications who accepted the waitlist offer in the College of Biological Sciences? Or that you know of? Ugggh I hate this waiting game…
@asdfghjkl2022 I applied to the bio science college and there was one other person who posted their stats here. Most likely there are others who aren’t posting anything
@asdfghjkl2022 I was on the waitlist for college of BioSci 2 years ago, and it was definitely not the most impacted major. In fact, the vast majority of students accepted from the waitlist were from the college of BioSci.
It obviously changes from year to year, but it is not the worst major to be in.
I’m a NPB major (neurobiology, physiology and behavior) and I feel like it’s competitive to get into. Not really sure my chances of getting in, but I think it’s slim to none… :-S
