OFFICIAL UChicago EA Class of 2017 Results Thread!

The website says it is missing my documents (because it is!) And I didn’t even realize that I had to complete the FAFSA/Send the tax reports. Now I’m super freaking out because this is my dream school. Will they accept everything late? What should I do? I never got a call or email from them about the missing documents. ):

I don’t think the FAFSA is due yet?.. I’m pretty sure the latest version of the FAFSA isn’t even out yet.

So what IS due or was due? What should I submit ASAP? I just emailed them, too.

I guess I didn’t send the CSS Profile or Tax Reports! Yikes!!!
And the CSS site is down tonight. Crap. And if they didn’t contact me about this, maybe this is an indication that I’m not getting accepted? I don’t know. Are other people in the same boat as I am?

Quick question guys: to all of you talking/freaking out about tax forms and such, are you all applying for financial aid? I’m not applying with FA so I wouldn’t have needed to send in such forms–is that right?

Also, @vsun–I got the same email, although interestingly, it was sent to my “regular” email, not the one that I set up to use for the Common App/UChicago Account etc.

Hadiram u don’t have to send anything

@RulemAll I called to see if they had received my fax of my parents’ 2011 tax return yet (it was missing and I was notified of it).

oh  that’s good

btw… why did you guys all apply to UChicago? my reason: Hogwarts…

“But like someone else said, why would they request for financial aid documents from someone that may not be in the school? Wouldn’t that be a tremendous waste of time for them to create financial aid packages for all the applicants, then delete the ones that don’t get in?”
This. If they’re need-blind and they have only so much money to allot, logic says the applicant gets in first before it is forwarded to the Office of Aid. Logic does not say that every applicant would be built a package and then a portion would be rejected after being built a package. But again, someone else said there could be an automated system that is checking through for missing stuff.

Don’t put so much faith in getting emails. Emails are just too sketchy to pray over. Some people will get emails and some people will not. A lot of people for my ED have been notified of judgement day and I have not, but I don’t think that means everyone who doesn’t get an email is already rejected. In fact, for my ED, people are getting emails about estimated AP/IB test scores or grades for the final semester. Of course, people are freaking out over this and chalking it up to “I didn’t get in, they didn’t email me.” The Office of Aid at UChicago is probably really, really busy right now. If you didn’t get an email now, you might get one later. You might not ever get one. Emails tend to be sent in batches/waves, and some people get left out or put in. The email itself says some people’s forms might have not been received because of system errors. And the email could honestly just mean “Turn in your forms so your application can be complete.”

As much as I want to take getting an email from aid as a good omen, I shouldn’t and won’t. Hopefully all of us who are getting this email will report getting accepted or not so that future applicants can figure out a correlation between getting contacted by aid and getting admitted. I can’t seem to find a thread that deals with this.

for international students, we only had to submit the ISFAA, and include our supporting tax returns and stuff.
If everything was submitted, there is no need to get an e-mail or any notification from the aid office as they have everything already.

…

you guys are all making me so nervous! Did you intentionally leave things out to get contacted??? :P

Wait, so if I have to fax over the income tax returns, do I just fax over both of my parents income tax returns?

Sunshinerocks… we r on the same boat lol… i dont even have supporting tax forms.
it’s probably all finished now… in or not…

Sorry, my question is kinda dumb. What I really want to know is if they’ll be able to tell that those tax forms are for me, etc.

how about scan and email instead of faxing?

what did you forget to include, and how can you see this on your Uchicago account? I’m actually kind of confused…

if u are missing stuff, it shows on ur account. if not then u r not missing anything

I never got the email, I got a call… What does that mean? (Actually it was multiple calls until someone answered)

Hm this whole financial aid discussion is interesting. I am 100% sure that I sent my parents tax report. Yet on the uchicago account it says that they didn’t receive it. Is that bc they didn’t process it yet? I definitely sent it…

I didn’t get a call because I sent in my form the moment that my finaid was missing on my chicago portal. To determine if this is only for accepted students, is there someone who KNOWS that they did not turn in a financail aid form and got it marked as reicieved? If there is, then it makes sense that the missing doc indicates an acceptance on the other hand if there is no such person, then we can assume that there is no correlation.

SAME!!! It seems a lot of people have had the problem, but then they started calling people today… I am nervous because I didn’t get an alert, but maybe they just didn’t process it for anybody.
