OFFICIAL UChicago Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

last year i received my decision at May 6th

And I am thinking May 3rd this year because the application deadline was March 3rd last year instead of March 1st

Should be around those days!

did anyone take the face to face interview this year for the transfer? I just took mine last saturday!

@transfer20140826 Did you contact the school first or did the school contact you first? Also, did you interview with the school or an alumni?
When I checked the website, they said they don’t offer an alumni interview for transfers, and students gotta be present at the school to interview. So, it would be unrealistic for them to offer an interview to students who live far away (like in the East Coast or West Coast). For students in the mid-West, it’s more possible. (It seemed like you’re attending UIUC now.) I’d be more concerned if someone who’s not from mid-West got an interview offer or you had an interview with an alum, not the school admission office.

yeah, im currently studying at UIUC, that’s why I feel like I should take the advantage of being really near to Uchicago, and I requested an interview. It was a senior at Uchicago who interviewd me and it was taken place at the admissions office at Uchicago.

Also applying from a community college. Does anyone know if UChicago will release all decisions at once, or do they come in batches? Good luck to all!

Had my interview with an assistant director last weekend, I don’t know how well I performed because that guy was too polite for me to observe anything from his attitude.

By the way, I lived in Cleveland and I took a 6 hour overnight bus to Chicago on Saturday and another 6 hours back on Sunday. I hope it will be worth the time!

Despite what I said above, I really doubt that the interview can make a big difference because when I asked the admission office about the interview at the first place, they said if I lived in Chicago area I could take one otherwise they did not recommend to travel for it. My interpretation of this reply is that the interview weighs little in their decision therefore does not worth the trip.

@gbmabuoc same here,i couldn’t tell how good or how bad the interview goes, since the day when i went for my interview, he had already interviewed four applicants in a row, so he was really polite when he saw me.

I asked the interview officer that how much is it gonna be influenced to our application status, he replied that if you did well in the interview, you will have an extra recommendation letter from the interviewer.

How many apps do you guys think Uchicago will accept this year, good luck to us!!!

Around 20 people, I guess. The admission rate is around 2%

@gbmabuoc do you have any idea how many pplz applied as a transfer for this year? wow, 20 pplz, thats low acceptance rate

You can check the college board UoC page for the transfer applicants number(759) and acceptance rate(4%,32 admitted) from last year. It is always very competitive there, the data for 2013 is ~800 and ~2%. I won’t expect much change this year. However, last year the acceptance rate of Rice drops from 18% to 11% because they admitted less students, so I guess you can never be sure.

I emailed AO about transfer statistics, he/she replied with previous experience that 20-40 spaces for 750-1k applicants.

Has anyone received news of a confirmed decision release day?

@CCCtransfer0613 What’s that? I only know they said results will be available in early May

I have been thinking that since they post the date of every submitted documents, does it imply that I could tell if I did well in the interview and got an additional recommendation letter based on whether there is a new document is added to my profolio?

@gbmabucc umm, i dont think so…but im curious when would they post out the acceptance. Will there be any difference for our account before they post the acceptance?

@transfer20140826 I was thinking some time around May 4th, but it’s just my rough guess. It seemed like they released on some time around the 7th last year, and the application due was also a couple days late than this year. But you can never tell how it’s actually gonna be posted…
