This thread has been created specifically for transfer students who have been placed on the wait list, and are still awaiting a final decision with regards to admission to UCI for the Fall 2016 term. Please feel free to share your thoughts, feelings, statistics, conversations with administrators, etc… anything relevant to the topic is welcome as far as I am concerned.
Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.
NOTE: This is a supplement to the Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread, and should be used only for conversations pertaining to the wait list.

My info:
Waitlisted
Junior Transfer
GPA: 3.1~
Major: History
Whoops seems like we had the same idea. We’ll use this one instead.
Yeah. I didn’t see anymore activity on the original thread, so I figured it was time to close it out and separate the waitlist data per your suggestion.
Didn’t mean to step on your toes @uctransfer16 just a boring Saturday afternoon. No power at my place in Fountain Valley today for some reason, so my phone is my only source of entertainment.
Major: EE
GPA:3.21
So do you guys know how they pick people off the waitlist? Is it a general pool like they want to admit 2000 people total and they only have 1800 SIR do they choose the top 300 on the waitlist or is it they want to admit a certain amount per major and if they don’t meet the amount for that major they will admit just for the major?
@nissincupnoodle I’d imagine its per the needs of each department.
Okay I know 2 EEs who are declining admissions at UCI for UCLA instead so fingers crossed.
I truly belive we all have a great shot at getting in. A lot can and will happen over the course of the next few weeks, so hang tight, remain confident and let the dust settle.
@nissincupnoodle also keep in mind that some TAG agreements and admissions offers may be rescinded due to conditions not being met. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy, but it is the reality for some.
@uisforutah Well, my only chance of going to a UC is getting off the waitlist from UCI or UCD. So i’ll remain hopeful haha.
@uctransfer16 I am in a similar boat as you, but I got denied to UCD but I called and found out the messed up my gpa so I am appealing.
@uisforutah That and it seems like schools were pretty generous with admissions this year so hopefully they choose those over UCI.
It will be quite the show. I’m going to meet with my CC transfer rep on Monday and will prod him for information. He was bragging to me last week how he is a former UCI employee and worked with engineering department on admissions decisions in the past. Time to put his money where his mouth is.
Any info I can find I will share with the group.
Waitlisted
GPA: 3.33
Major: Computer Science
I just declined my admission offer. Good luck to everybody on the wait list - hang in there!
I am looking for professionals offering UC transfer admission advice (either paid or free service). Do you know any professionals in SoCal area?
Also, if anyone knows what admission officers look for or the things we should focus on when preparing for next year’s UCI transfer into junior year?
@tamay123 Are you in a community college? because I’m sure there is one for every campus, and they’re probably really experienced, and you can call a specific UC and I believe they have one too.
@tamay123: Instead of looking for a professional, why don’t you use TAG? Meet the course requirements and maintain your GPA and you are in. Unless you are not attending a California CC, then you would not qualify for TAG.

I noticed a number of non impacted majors with GPAs in the 3.1s and 3.2s coming off the waitlist last year, you guys have a pretty good chance.
@lugi350 What are the impacted majors?
It depends on the school, but it’s usually engineering or science related and business for UCI. For example in UCSB you can TAG with 3.2 GPA except any engineering major or computer science and they have a creative studies department that’s also restricted from tag. Same with UCD.
Do we have to write a waitlist essay like in UCSD?
