i’m surprised they didnt just reject me. things are looking bleak, hoping for a miracle. if not, i’m going to riverside. i’ve read/heard that you can cancel your SIR to a UC if another UC has admitted you from their waitlist, i hope this is true because i will submit my SIR to UCR before the deadline if UCI still hasn’t given me an admission decision.
also UCI is asking me to bring in my original naturalization citizenship because i just updated my citizenship status at the social security office, so they haven’t released any financial aid info for me yet. i hope this doesn’t affect my admission decision (though many said it doesn’t since they are two different offices and everything)
@physicx19 no we don’t have to write anything.
That’s a bummer. I wish another essay and spring grades were considered. Looking at a 4.0 in my hardest science and math this semester. Shame that won’t be factored into their decision.
@uisforutah yup. We’re just sitting ducks hoping they admit as many people off the waitlist as they did last year.
@nissincupnoodle agreed, but I’m hoping they take MORE than last year!
From what I’ve read (and this may be complete rubbish) both transfer and freshman waitlisters are all placed in the same pile, so the figures we’ve all seen may be skewed in a particular direction. There may in fact be some preference given to transfer students on the waitlist, which isn’t represented in the data. Then again it could also work the other way around, so I digress…
@uisforutah I have the waitlist numbers concerning solely transfers on the first page.
@uctransfer16 ah, so you do. Well then, let’s hope for a bigger number this year and more space for us all.
I’ve been lead to believe transfer and freshman are in seperate piles. Last year barely any freshman were admitted off the waitlist while 2/5 of transfers were admitted.
It would make more sense that freshman and transfers ARE in separate piles since the issue with space is that UCs need to keep in mind class availability. Transfer students entering the university will likely be looking to enroll in upper division courses since it is expected that they have already completed their lower-divs at a CC, vs. freshman students who still have to take all the General Ed classes.
Regardless, GL to y’all!
I got waitlisted as CS with a 3.45. I’m on the waitlist for 4 schools, but UCI is my top choice.
We’ll find out if we’re admitted around the end of June right? I don’t have any backup plan so it’s UCI or nothing. The enrollment date for the Fall semester at my CC is coming up and idk if I should enroll/pay for classes and start prepping for next semester or just wait.
@hiimfriendly Enroll in your CC and pay. If you get off the waitlist, just go and get a refund.
@nissincupnoodle for some reason i was thinking about the summer session, but yea that works too. thanks
UCD asked for my expected grade from Spring Semester when submitting the Waitlist offer. Is there any way that UCI would offer the same opportunity? This semester would significantly boost my overall GPA.
I was waitlisted with a 3.7 and TAG for business information management. I called the admissions office on Monday and the counselor said that I didn’t get accepted because that major is impacted and that I had 4 prerequisites in progress which was a concern to them. So I’m wondering what is the point of TAG then? Lol
He told me to appeal the decision. Is that good? And if I appeal, does that take me off the waitlist?
I am in a position to get As in all 6 classes that I’m taking right now except my English class because we don’t know until the final date what our grade will be (scary haha).
Any tips/advice on what I should write about in my appeal?
@BIMguy there was a bunch of people that tagged that got waitlisted on last year’s thread. I don’t know what happened to them because none of the waitlisters mentioned that they got rejected. Also out of 1000 plus people that applied for Business major last year only 60 people got admitted only 2 enrolled. That’s impacted on another level. I don’t know what’s the deal with tag in UCI particularly for business majors. I would appeal if I was you. I’m going to appeal too I’m not letting any stones unturned.
I have a question for the group… If we’ve opted in for the waitlist can we still file an appeal? If not, will we get a chance to appeal if the ultimate decision is a rejection?
It seems like right now I have no grounds to file a legitimate appeal, seeing that I’m still being considered for admission. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
@uisforutah I emailed them about the waitlist. On my email, they told me to apply an appeal for my alternative major, mathematics, but not for my primary major.
Also, UCI will use a lottery to pick out people on the waitlist.
@physicx19 A lottery! Welp.
wait so if we apply for an appeal will we still be on the waitlist? @physicx19 @uctransfer16
