well…you’re allowed to defer your enrollment if you make it to another college through appeals.

just an fyi.

^ yupp yupp. it’s just that for those who have to pay the $100 enrollment fee thing, they dont get a refund.

ic…

but in my opinion i don’t think $100 would be in any burden with changing to a better college.

Just wondering,

I’m a transfer student who applied for Busi Econ. Can I request to have my major changed in my appeal? Will that fly?

Thanks.

“but in my opinion i don’t think $100 would be in any burden with changing to a better college.”

yeahh, my thoughts exactly. the more important thing is getting into the school you really want.

I’m glad I found this site, I’m not too enthusiastic about my chances though. Getting out of the Marine Corps, I only applied to UCSC and UCLA, stupid move. I had a good living set up in Santa Cruz. I got in there, which is even surprising considering my gpa, no honors classes, mediocre SAT’s.

Anyone hear back yet?

still nothing…

nope. i dont think anybody has heard yet.

^ ns2675:

You shouldn’t be surprised you got in UCSD. It accepts over 70% of its applicants. Pretty good odds of getting in… But it’s still a UC and a pretty good school.

nodnarb: 70% acceptance is not true.

the acceptance rate was 40% this year. don’t make the people that got into UCSD feel bad…

^ Im sorry i accidentally typed UCSD, i meant to type UCSC (santa cruz) which is what ns2675 was referring to.

A boy in my boyfriend’s calc class appealed and got accepted recently. However, I will say he was amazingly hooked and I don’t know how they passed him over the first time.

haha wow UCSD and UCSC are 2 totally different schools…howd u make that mistake?

marie03: wow…that was very quick…when did he turn in his appeal package?

anyone else hear anything? i guess they start coming now…

really marie03? if what you’re saying is true, it would be the first we hear of somebody who has actually heard.

Yeah, this year they [UCSC] accepted about 60 percent. I didn’t even get into Merced when I applied coming out of high school four years ago, and they were brand new.

“haha wow UCSD and UCSC are 2 totally different schools…howd u make that mistake?”
…sarcasm? I hope.

me SO cool: I’ve heard of a girl getting in through UCLA appeal this year. She went through band appeal though.

ninjashayna: band appeal? is that when the band director like writes the rec letter for the person? im curious how the band appeal pathway is pretty successful…

rbk: You know how people get in through sports? As a recruit or walk-on. Or how UCLA grants spots for the incoming freshmen who auditioned and made theater majors? From my understanding, band appeals are sort of like that. The student contacts the band director and appeals to him to tell admissions to accept the student. It’s getting yourself into the school because you were recruited into band before you were accepted; like how athletes are recruited into sports before they are accepted into the school.

[UCLA Bruin Marching Band](http://www.band.ucla.edu/join/faq.php)

9) If I am not admitted to UCLA, is there anything the Band can do to help with my appeal?

Contact Marching Band Director Gordon Henderson to see if he can do anything for you.

I see…seems like a legitimate way to getting in…

haha
