How exactly would the URSA main page look if given the SIR option? Is it bold or does it just supplement one of the column options. Is it even on the main page or is it under a category, like “Registration Status”?

Ok, just called… lady was clueless on when the decisions would be posted. Said try again in a week! wowowowaahweeewahhhhhhhhhhh!

My brother is also waiting, but he turned in his the last day.
His Stats : 3.8 international Econ

@vyruz

Call again, and if you have the same lady hang up and call again. I keep trying to call and all I ever get is that creepy male voice saying, “All operators are currently busy” blah blah

@Jink

ok ill try again

ps. one day i called over 30 times to talk to 2 different people. haha

hey jink,

did you submit your SIR somewhere else already?

just checked at 2:56 PM no dice

I haven’t submitted my SIR anywhere else, and I finally got through the circuitry to the admissions rep and she also told me to wait a week and a half. I was kind of angry but she advised me to turn in my SIR anywhere else. The only other schools I applied to were UCs and Columbia. I didn’t get into Columbia (long shot to begin with) and the other UCs didn’t accept me for the same reason (missing pre-reqs). I didn’t appeal any, but UCSB said as long as I turned in an appeal letter with an unofficial transcript showing I took summer classes, I’d be guaranteed a spot in the school. The women from UCSB told me I could do this up until July 15th, so I’m in no hurry.

what were u missing jink?

My school listed a philosophy internship as uc transferrable, but turns out it wasn’t so I have 57.66 of 60 required UC transferrable units. Ouch, right?

And I’d rather not go to UCSB, I go to sbcc and hate Santa Barbara, I’d rather do smc for another year and re apply with better gps and transcript etc

im seriously so sorry to hear that dude :/

way out of your hands!!

@Jink
you and I are pretty much in common
I am @ SMC and rejected because of the short unit.

i just found out that my real reason of being rejected to ucla was short of units. only 54 transferred, when i had 62, and the lady i spoke to didnt tell me. so when i appealed, i told them im taking calc 2(prereq for bus econ that i didnt take and the lady said is why im rejected only) in the summer, n turns out that i was rejected b/c even if i take calc 2 (5 units) its 59 units and still short.

i am so mad…

what if they lied to u about why u were rejected? and then rejected u again thru appeal coz u still didnt do it coz they never told u!

peppamintt, so how manu UC transferable units do you have right now? 59?

If one doesn’t have 60 units, isn’t that automatic rejection for ALL UC’s?

@peppamintt
that sucks, but, for me, it’s still better than Berkeley that doesn’t let me know about anything and just keep saying “highly encourage not to appeal…”

idk cgee… but im just mad that they didn’t tell me that before. im sure if its 1 unit, they let u do something. but im just mad that i appealed for basically nothing u know?

If you don’t have UC pre reqs they label you “non competitive” and simply cannot offer you admission. Schools like UCLA and Cal don’t have as strict a policy, but they are required to give priority to those who have completed 60 units. Schools with Tag agreements cannot offer admission to those missing pre reqs.

this info comes from a ucsb counselor who was very adamant that I take summer courses and appeal. Schools funded by the state can’t be as independent as private schools. There are legal obligations schools must obey to continue their funding and accredidation.

Sorry about typos my comp is in the shop and this I’d from an iPhone

wow peppamintt! i would be as mad as you are! ):

ty jink for that information!

peppamint; first it was your parents fault you didn’t get accepted, now it’s ucla’s. When are you going to figure it out?

@peppamintt

another thing you all should remember…

The transfer director at my school, SBCC, worked in the UCLA admissions department for ten years and I met with her and she gave me some sound advice.

1st.
For appeals, UCLA likes to see cold hard proof that you’ve enrolled in summer classes if that’s your basis of appeal. It can be anything from an unofficial transcript or receipt from paying classes. They don’t want to make decisions based on your intentions to take classes, it’s too much of a gamble.

2nd.
There is no appeal deadline. The may 22nd date is largely to keep people from pestering the office throughout summer asthey prepare for another academic year. If you send in another letter they WILL read it.

3rd.
Consistency is so important. If you say you’ll take 6 semester units and do 3 (even if you only needed 3) it’s a breach of contract and may affect your admittance.

So peppamintt, enroll in another course, get and unofficial transcript and new letter and Rex letter from your summer instructors and have another go.

Nothing to lose but a stamp and a few hours of time.
