How were your essays? So are you being classified as a sophomore transfer or junior transfer? In all honesty, I’d say you have a chance, but if you are applying for sophomore transfer, it’s a low chance. I’d say that the average GPA for sophomore transfers is a 3.6+GPA, with the majority being in the upper 3’s (3.8-4.0 GPA). Junior transfers have a little more wiggle room, with the average being a 3.2 GPA (but majority being 3.5+).

Wait a second… So transfer decisions are now delayed even further? What happened to mid-April? I was assuming the decisions would be released on April 20.

As did I. April 27 would leave us less than 3 weeks to get our course equivalencies and decide. Not to mention it’s going to be right in the middle of exams which is going to be a stressful time anyway.

Only one person said that he got an email that said decisions are coming out the 27th. Did anyone else get this email? I doubt they will make us wait that long for decisions.

They said that ALL decisions will be out by the 27th. So decisions would have to START coming out earlier. Or atleast that’s what I understood from the post.

I posted regarding the 27th. I emailed the admissions department and was told that ALL decisions would be released BY the 27th. Nowhere did I say on the 27th. Sorry if anyone misunderstood.

And we’re confident it would be the 20th bc they are already a week late and people need time to weigh their options by may 15 considering course equivalencies and other factors,
other schools have already released decisions and the 27th seems to be a long time-

I would bet that decisions are released starting on the 20th and continuing up until the 27th

I don’t think UNC sent out this email. When applicants emailed them, UNC simply responded back.

dhaber1, considering they had a massive spike in applicants it’s not like they’re delaying decisions on purpose. There are certain “prestigious schools” (not that UNC isn’t) that don’t respond until July 1st.

I think believing decisions will be out 20th is just wishful thinking, though I would love to have them out on that day!

In previous years UNC said decisions will be out BY “mid-April” and had them out around mid-April. So if they’re saying by the 27th, they might actually be aiming for the 27th (or the 20th and they are simply hedging their bets by saying 27th). We’re all overthinking this aren’t we?

What other schools have already released decisions for transfers? All the other schools I applied to won’t release decisions for transfers until end of April/May 1st. Carolina is the only one that had an estimated decision release date of mid-April.

Emory on 1st May if you completed application before the priority deadline. Do u know when Brandeis(rolling), William and Mary would start releasing decisions?

I think a lot of schools have already released their decisions for transfers. Maybe not the Ivy’s and higher rated schools, but UNC is the highest ranking school I applied to.

I already received decisions from:

UCONN
Rutgers New Brunswick
Rutgers Camden

UCONN and Rutgers both expect my decision by May 1st.

@dhaber1, -----Again, please read the post, I didn’t say it was a random email from the admissions department, I emailed them for the same reasons you’re concerned about. I was told that ALL DECISIONS will be released BY the 27th. They were responding to my inquiry, it was not some email that came randomly that nobody else got. And there are plenty of schools not releasing transfer decisions until May and even June. My situation personally, I don’t NEED to know until May, because I have until June 1st to SIR to a UC. Your situation may be different. If you don’t believe what I’m saying about a release date, then by all means contact them. It seems they would probably give you a different answer anyways seeing this seems to be the norm for admissions personal. It must be crazy in their offices this time of year.
@penny2012- Take this with a grain of salt, but I heard back from Brandeis this morning from a RESPONSE to an email I sent them.
"Your file is complete and is currently being evaluated by the admissions committee. We hope to get all the decisions out by the middle of May – and June 1st at the latest. We release transfer decisions on a rolling basis, so hopefully you’ll be in the next batch to go out! (However, I do not know that for sure.)

-- Brandeis Admissions"

So there you go, looks like if you had all your application material in early, you will know earlier.

I had also emailed American University to find out about release dates and was told my decision was in the mail. That was last Thursday. My email told me that If I needed to know the decision, call them and explain my situation about needing to know regarding making a decision on another school and they would be happy to tell me if I was accepted or not. I think you can do this with some schools, it’s woth a shot I suppose. Call UNC on the 20th if you haven’t heard and tell them your concerns. All they can tell you is no.
