There are too many factors to predict whether it will be this week or next.

For instance, we don’t know if they’ve brought on more eyes for admissions since last application cycle.

We don’t know if there are “rounds” of decisions which would make it like rolling admissions.

And finally, we don’t have normalized “speed” of application review (how long on average does it take from completion to review to decision). We have two years of data, which is good, but not significant. Each application cycle has its own characteristics, and UNC has only given us one concrete detail: we will know by the end of the month.

Either way, I find it funny they would simply remind us how to view our decisions a week in advance. And (assuming the previous posts are true) that some people already have letters. It’s too difficult to predict.

Also, the reason they don’t tell us an exact date is to decrease the frenzy and to make sure the system doesn’t crash when all 3000 of us sign in to check and we keep pressing “refresh” until our decision pops up.

I can already tell this is going to be crazy ■■■■■■■■ to even enroll if I get accepted. Snooping around I find you have to actually mail your deposit in to enroll, then it takes around 10 days to register you into the system to even sign up for orientation. With this fiasco, I can see a huge cluster frack. UCLA today FTW.

It is what it is, people. Either way you cut it, we’ll know by the end of the month. Yes, it sucks, yes, it’s stressful, but this is completely out of our hands. In the meantime, I thought we could all use a laugh. Fast forward to 2:44 on the clip below. It is hilarious! I promise. If you don’t find it funny, well, then I feel sorry for you.

I think that the people who “found out” are either lying or for some reason/special circumstance found out earlier. According to the Facebook post no letters have been mailed out and according to common sense there is no reason they would send out letters before putting decisions online…maybe the people who found out did not need to get credits evaluated or something like that, who knows.
