Also ECON, I think we spend a year in CAS doing all the foundational courses, and then apply for junior year in Kenan-Flagler, idk how it is for juniors

Damn I’m an international student and don’t have a SSN which prevents me from finding my PID and by extension from creating my ONYEN to go check it out. Any other way you guys know to find out my PID???

Good question Dhaber!

So here’s how it works! For sophomore transfers, you must fulfill all of your business prerequisites but apply during Fall 2012 (for your transfer class) for admission to Kenan-Flagler in Fall 2013. You will know your decisions by mid-January.

For junior transfers, it is a little different. You could either apply for Spring admissions if you have all of your prerequisites done or will have them completed during your first semester. Spring admissions is more competitive. Though juniors also apply for Fall 2013 admissions, but you could sign up to take courses in Kenan-Flagler in Spring 2013 so you don’t fall behind and can graduate on time.

I suggest to overload so if you don’t get into Kenan Flagler, you can take courses for your alternative major and not get behind in your coursework so you can graduate on time. And you can drop your either your KF or alternate major courses for a while before you get a W)

Right now, it might be a good idea to start looking at alternative majors and seeing if there is anything you like, before you make the decision to transfer (for you current students in solid business programs (Top 50)). Otherwise some majors that people who do not gain admission to K-F narrow in on are Management & Society, Mathematical Decision Sciences, Economics, etc. Other people like me chose to do another Social Science major (Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, etc.) that are located within College of Arts and Sciences and take advantage of the Carolina Business Institute (I chose not to, because I’m applying for MBA programs in a few years).

Hope all of this information helps!

anyone get financial aid packages yet? i sent in CSS and fasfa, but not parents tax transcripts yet…when do i send em??

No idea on how to get the PID???
Never mind I got it :)

same here too. I guess we have to wait until Mon to call for the PID office as listed in FAQ on PID website

no you can go on “my test results” (in your applicant online portal) where your toefl results are and then on the higher right corner you’ll have a 9 digits number which is your PID ;)

Anyone knows of any merit type scholarships that they would give to international transfer?

BruinsJews, is there a significant difference in job opportunities for Econ majors and Business majors at UNC? I love Econ but also Business and I plan to get a MBA at some point.

What can you access through the ONYEN login?

Course catalog, adding emergency contact, etc. and you can also register for UNC email by using Onyen.

So has anyone been able to view anything other than their acceptance letter, like their credit transfer or award package?

I’ve set up my onyen account and my heelmail account, but I don’t see anything, not even on Connect Carolina. "/

I cannot see them as well. Maybe we have to wait until next week to view the credit evaluation. However, we can search for courses on Onyen at least.

While rank of the school does matter, Kenan Flagler versus a degree in Economics (CAS), it has to also do with how you network, connect with people and take advantage of opportunities that are presented to you (or that you seek out). I will say that the career placement through Kenan-Flagler is a lot better, because of the companies that come specifically there to recruit students.

Though I know students personally who have and do not have jobs in both schools. I would have to say that if you properly prepare yourself (internships, networking events, building relationships with your professors), that you can have just an equally good chance getting a job in Finance/Consulting/etc. with an Economics major.

Forgot to put the stats. I figure next year transfers might need it.

Attending NC CC
College GPA: 4.0
Major: General Studies in Science with a focus in math and chemistry, probably study Chem at UNC.
Class standing: applied as a junior (53 credits) to avoid taking the SAT, but I’m sure I will be evaluated as a sophomore after the credit evaluation.
Other information: non-traditional student, permanent residence, completed first 2 years of a rigorous computer science program in my country, was 1st and 2nd place in Dean’s list the whole time, member of church choirs for many years, tutoring, volunteer at an orphanage, strong recs, decent essay.

Do you guys have any ideas when we will have the credit evaluation? How about the financial aid package?

Congrats for everyone who got in! I’m looking forward to meeting you guys at the transfer orientation.

just paid enrollment deposit. Officially a Tarheel :D

BTW what is onyen? Does it appear after you accept the offer?

@seafood92
Can I have a stupid question? How do we put deposit? I mean where? Thanks!

GO to acceptance window. Should say accept/decline offer -> accept -> click all the windows until you get to pay options -> pay and become tarheel ^_^

@seafood92
Thank you! But what if I am not sure to attend? I can also accept the offer and all I need to do is to pay for the deposit? my question seems a little bit silly, sorry! Thanks!

of course. You can pay the deposit and that will hold your spot but you are not required to attend the university. It is just an intent to attend.
