Hey everyone im applying as a rising sophomore from Pepperdine University(private CA school ranked around 50)
-CAS applicant
-3.76 college GPA (48 credits by the end of this semester)
-3.4 unweighted HS GPA 4.3 weighted 5 AP courses
-1800 SAT 1220 Math and Reading
-28 ACT
-I think my essay was pretty solid
-EC’s are my strong point (HS Senior Class President, Pepperdine Student Gov. Senator, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society, Track & Field 2x captain and state champ, Wrestling captain, Ridiculous amount of volunteer hours mostly in Guatemala for the past 6 years, 2 jobs, ton of clubs, fraternity)
-2 very good recommendation from HS professor/good friend and college professor
-Rejected from UNC out of HS
-Also applying to UVA, Gtown, Lehigh, BC and Lafayette

hpolo: I’m not qualified to say if you’re going to get in or not. However, I will state you have excellent EC’s but your GPA is a little low. I think if you wrote a killer essay and had good rec’s you’ll get in(from what I’ve seen in past threads, that is) Do you have any hooks? Minority, low income, first generation…? How was your essay? What about your recs?

I don’t think it’s going to be for a while. I spoke to a very nice lady I have developed a relationship with in admissions and she told me that hundreds of applicants are still missing items needed to review them. My best guess would be mid April they will start trickling out.

Ah, well since application deadline has came and went - GOOD LUCK EVERYONE. I’m nervous… ESPECIALLY SINCE THE COLLEGE I CURRENTLY ATTEND HAS MANAGED TO BE THE ONLY THING STOPPING ME FROM HAVING A COMPLETE APPLICATION (UNC’s missing my transcript from it… -_-)

But wait, I’m confused. Is it end of March or mid-April that we should be expecting the decisions?!

By the way, I’m Bri & I applied as an upcoming sophomore.

Sorry guys for the confusion. Some of admission representative misunderstood my questions when I asked for the decision date. The decision date is Mid April for sure.

Well, one would hope that the notification would be in early April, as this year the deadline was moved forward two weeks, and notification was around April 20 last year.

I really hope I get accepted as a rising sophomore, because I can’t stand another year at NC State.

I just… generally dislike the majority of people that I’ve come in contact with. It’s way too… well. I got attacked online for making a joke about wearing pajamas to class (not like… making fun of people about wearing them, but joking about the desire to wear them myself actually lol). I’ll let that speak for itself. I don’t act like the people at NYU either. My personality is way less… I’m a really laid back person and I don’t like acting above others (generally - I think we all have our moments, lol). Nightlife sucks unless you invest in a fake ID (also not my thing). Oh, and the program I’m in I dislike and can’t get out of until the end of 2nd year. AHH! And the cost of living - and attending. Not really much of a community - which I was aware of prior to, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad.

I think the most important thing is the fact that it doesn’t fit the kind of person I am. I really love the city and if I loved NYU, I would probably never want to leave but I don’t love NYU at all. I kinda hate it actually, honestly.

(BRI)Yea, I’ve lived in NYC my whole life and almost every NYU student I’ve come across has an elitist attitude. A lot of the students there come from money and unfortunately they harbor a belief this makes them better or smarter than everyone. I’m not going to lie, I knew exactly why you wanted to transfer before I even asked the question, I just wanted to see if you would actually say it.

On another note, a friend from my school who is applying with me got a phone call from admissions asking him about additional information as to why he took a break between high school and college. So, we know they’re reviewing right now.

Also, they might have pushed the deadline forward two weeks because they had trouble handling it either a year or two ago(I can’t remember exactly)Thus, I don’t think they pushed it forward so they could get decisions out early, I just think they pushed it forward to get decisions out on time.

As for me, they still have not received my GED transcript. This is not good news, I sent away for it over a month ago. Although they keep assuring me it’s perfectly fine. I have a strange feeling this is going to put me at a disadvantage.

Hey guys!
I am applying as a sophomore transfer from the University of South Carolina as an elementary education major.

high school GPA:4.3
college GPA:3.7
SAT score: 1250/1930
really strong essays (probably my strong point)
high school EC’s-captain of varsity cheerleading, red cross club, spanish club, service club, big brothers big sister volunteer, nanny.
college EC’s-Younglife leader, volunteer at a local elementary school, volunteer at the children’s center on campus, students for education reform club.
in-state student

Can someone chance me please? thanks so much!

CCstudentNYC, oh okay. Just wondering, I’m getting antsy waiting. I applied as a sophomore transfer so, from what I hear, my chances aren’t as good as junior and non-traditional transfer applicants…

I’m from a UNC system university with a 4.0 GPA and a 4.6 HS GPA. I know both of those look good, but I’m a little worried about my essay just because I don’t have a crazy intense life story to tell them. Haha and my SAT isn’t too awesome. It’s like an 1170, just reading and math.

Anyway, just resolved the GED issue and heard from someone high up in admissions that decisions are slated for two weeks. So,around April 8th is definitely when they will start coming out. Good luck everyone.

CCstudentNYC: thanks for the info thats really helpful! Glad to see you resolved the GED issue. in the past it looks like they have released decisions on fridays, maybe well get lucky and theyll release them like the 5th or something

Yeah. I’m in the “upper middle class” bracket, so I’m not rolling around in money but I’m not killing my parents by attending NYU either. But, idk. I just never felt that my money mattered like that. I don’t carry the amount of money I have or the job my dad has around like some kinda medal and I feel like people around me do.

Glad you figured out the GED situation! I was stressing when I kept checking my to-do list and saw they needed my transcript. Wanted to throw a party when it finally cleared lol.

April 8th… eeek. That’s so soon. Which is good and bad. Good because I want to know. Bad because I’m nervous.
