*Official UNC Fall 2010 Transfer Thread*

Oh and I guess this is because I’m from Virginia, but I’ve always had the impression that UNC is one of those schools that are known country-wide. haha

CNU:

I believe what Mastemahx was trying to say was that they may state it on the website or tell it to applicants, but there is still going to be some bias to in-state applicants.

@bquin
Hmm, you may be right, but I really hope they are straightforward on that. I mean, they admit to taking in state over out of state for freshman, and they say they don’t consider it for transfers… 2 cents?

@CNUtoUNC - Haha, I’m sure I’ll be at plenty of basketball games, if I get in. It’s my boyfriend’s favorite sport, and it’s the one I can sort of follow, after four years of HS cheerleading for the basketball teams. But football games, soccer games, baseball games, whatever other sports they play at UNC… those I probably won’t be at.

Well for the sake of all of us here on CC, let’s hope it’s true.

The skew between in state and out of state probably exists because of a larger in state applicant pool?

@monstersgoMoo

I’ll be at basically any game I can get tickets for. haha, especially football. :)

Big college sports are a huge draw to UNC for me. :)

monstersgoMOO, you should definitely go to football and baseball games as well!

I’m not big on baseball, but UNC has one of the nations top baseball programs so I will definitely go to games. Football might not be so big in the north, but down here in Florida it’s a lifestyle. Just to be there and cheer for your time is worthwhile even if you don’t know exactly what’s going on.

UNC is going to have a top 5 defense next year… I love it. :D

Yeah dude, the game against LSU in Atlanta will be an awesome way to start the season.

Butch Davis is the man. In Miami he is worshiped as a God for recruiting the greatest college football team of all time back in 2000 at the U.

Well transfers from in-state may not have a distinct advantage, but I hope that since I’m coming from NC State (which is in the UNC system) I will gain a little bit of an edge haha :)

… nothing against the out-of-staters though!

what about those out-of-country then? lol

i agree with biomed haha… Hopefully coming from NCSU has some sort of say in the matter… I have a feeling we are gonna find out this weekend… if i get in I am going to have the best weekend of my life…

well it makes sense to have more in state students because that is the whole point of the school, to help their state’s students

but as an OOS, I am hoping they except lots of out of states, well at least just everyone on this thread including me :slight_smile: and I gotta say, I am so ready for some real sports games/atmosphere! Im at a California CC and we do not have any school spirit whatsoever :/

@bquin21 - Yeah even though I’m not into sports, I probably will end up at a few games, because the community around it was actually one of the appeals of UNC. I’m at NYU now, and they bribe students with free food and t-shirts to go to sports events, and still almost no one goes.

Well as transfers I think we’ll be lacking friends so going to games might be a good way to solve that dilmena :D

I hope we all make it.

Basketball is a HUGE deal here at UNM. Nothing quite like a Lobos basketball game at The Pit. Even if I make it to UNC, I am a Lobos fan for life! (Don’t tell UNC that though. :P) Not the best team in the country, and definitely not as storied a program as UNC (let’s ignore how UNC fared this year, shall we? yeesh.) but my experience here has made me a fan just because people get so excited about their local team and aren’t fairweather fans.

I’ll probably get my ass kicked in a dark parking lot (even though I’m a girl…) for wearing my Lobos gear, but I’m not a fairweather fan either. Though I’ll go to UNC games just because I love basketball overall, and used to play until a knee injury ended that pretty quick. :frowning: Plus, my best friend lives close by who loves his Heels, so I’ll have to take him, plus it’s his fault the Heels are my second fav team. (Duck Fook.)

(Get the name now? Lobos…Tarheels…BarkingAtHeels? Yeah. :P)

God damn it Duke!

:(

I hate Duke. the last 3 pointer from Hayward was soooo close…

kdjasklfjas df I had duke losing in the 1st round!

I really want to go to UNC now just so I can be part of the duke hating crowd and watch UNC win again next year :)
