Got into Letters & Sciences and not the major that I applied for (LEP Psych). Did anyone actually get into Psych? Or know what classes you take in Letters & Sciences?

But congrats everyone that got in!

^^

Same, and my GPA is a 3.57 from a public school (known for deflation) ranked a lot higher than University of Maryland. I am just confused, since psychology is the whole reason I applied. What even is this major?

Oh I did a little research, and maybe it’s because I haven’t completed one of the “gateway” requirements" for the psychology program yet? Can I apply again to the LEP program? I am so confused!

Hey guys! I got in to Letters and Science too!
You guys are right. Because they the majors we wanted were LEPs they put us in the Letters and Sciences because we didn’t have all of the credits needed. I applied for biology but I found out through one of their transfer advisors that I was missing some of the gateways. They were really helpful. I shot them an email listing the courses I had completed as well in progress and they emailed me maybe 2 days later telling me which classes I had to complete in order to be able to enter into the Biology program. So if you do choose to go to UMD the first semester, or two you can finish up your gateways and enter into the program then! Hope this helps!

I hope you’re just as excited as I am still!

Thanks ForzaNatalia for the explanation! I am definitely still excited to have been accepted! Do you know if it’s a guaranteed kind of thing? Like once we meet the requirements after the first semester (I need a biology class) we will definitely be accepted to the LEP program (in my case, psychology)?

rkat, you should email umd right now, they are getting back within minutes. I asked them the same thing about getting into LEP after the IAP and they said engineering is a less competitive LEP so completion of the gateways and obtaining the required GPA is basically a shoe in though you do still have to apply. You should email them concerning psychology.

Ha Rkat93, I was just talking to my dad about that last night! Once we get all the courses HOW could they deny us! Right? It wouldn’t make any sense! Unless of course we could just take all the courses for our desired majors and graduate with our own “majors.” Have no fear! We have to be guaranteed. We have dreams here right!?

Thanks for the suggestion to e-mail admissions, they got back to me almost instantly!

ForzaNatalia, exactly what I was thinking and hoping! I am currently a declared psych major so its a little odd that I will be undeclared again and then have to declare…again! It needs to be guaranteed because I don’t exactly have a back-up major!

I emailed admissions and they said that since I am taking the rest of the gateway courses currently, once they receive my spring transcript I could actually still get into my desired LEP :D. So if anyone else is in my boat and didn’t gwet into their LEP theres still hope. :D

I got in to my LEP which I am so relieved about.

I never actually got an email from Maryland saying the decision was out…did everyone get an email? I want to make sure there is no issue with them having the wrong email. I am still hoping to hear back on TAEScholarship…that will be the next thing to wait for.

UMBC Offered me a $2500 scholarship but I don’t think that is enough to sway me.

Applied as a sophomore from a 4 year in-state public institution, “ACCEPTED” as Junior Economics Major for fall 2013

College GPA: 3.00(it’s by God’s grace that I got in!! Also had a connection in admissions)
ECs: Lots of leadership roles, and campus involvement
Essay was great! 300 words EXACT!

I still didn’t receive an email nor see anything on the website… it just says thank you your application has been received… I don’t see a link or anything… HELP!

Hey all! I’m a first year at Montgomery College; applied through MTAP. I’m planning on enrolling in an LEP. I applied to Letters and Sciences in the hopes that once I complete my gateway courses (at UMD, if admitted), I could apply for the LEP at the end of my sophomore year.

@Kumbavu: Thanks for the info!

I’m looking into Bio, Psych, Govt&Politics, and Business (lots of interests! Trying to determine which one). Does anyone know how competitive each one is?

Also, how do we find out about financial aid? I’m assuming, since they are releasing decisions online, that they will not be sending admission decisions (and financial aid) by paper mail. Is this correct? If so, how may we find out our fin. aid awards?

And what do we do for on-campus housing? Where do we find the forms for that?

hey congrats guys…i got in letters and science too… but i completed all of my gateways and will get my aa in may… i don’t quite understand why they didnt put me in the business school.
