Official University of Michigan Transfer Thread for Fall 2015

Your HS gpa was relatively higher compared to other freshman applicants, so I think that played a large role in your acceptance. Either way, congrats! When was your application considered complete?

Hey guys! I’ve been enjoying reading this discussion page for a while now and figured, why not join in and have people to discuss the waiting anxiety with (lol) and have a group for moral support during this whole transferring thing.

Anyways, I have a strange situation, so I personally don’t think I’ll get accepted. Long story short, I went to school out of state in a big city, had some medical issues that forced me to leave and essentially miss 50% of the fall semester, so decided to take a leave of absence to try other ventures in the meantime, since it’d be a lost cause to go back at that point. Fortunately for me, my luck went well and I have some really great opportunities that will last me until mid-July. So I’m hoping to return to school for the fall semester. While I was at my school of choice, I was not entirely impressed/didn’t really enjoy it there, hence my decision to transfer back home.

Here’s my stats/application info:

HS GPA: 4.0 (was an honors student/on honors/AP track throughout high school)
APs: Took a total of 8 in high school, only would get credit for AP english ones
HS E.C.s: President of Drama club, participant in various community theatre productions, Part time job as a junior manager, treasurer of school choir, school news anchor, video club executive council member, member of the church youth band, NHS member
Cumulative ACT: 29

College GPA: N/A
-when I was in college, I was a member of their exclusive a cappella group, female choir, held a work study position and sang at the Sunday mass at the church across the street

Since I’ve left school, I currently work as a temporary worker (i.e. secretarial, receptionist, data entry positions). As well as doing various theatre and television gigs when they pop-up.

-I’d be transferring in as a freshman (most likely)
-Previously applied for Fall 2014 EA and been previously accepted
-Legacy & In-State Applicant (although b/c I’ve been working out of state for the past couple months, I have to complete the paperwork to be considered for in-state tuition.)

I submitted my common app on 1/20/15, but it was officially complete/all my materials were recieved on 2/3/15. Oh! And I’m applying to LSA. Although on my common app I had noted chemistry or communications (i know shoot me for putting that down), but Wolverine Access has me down as undeclared.

Like I said, pretty sure I’ll end up getting rejected (unfortunately) due to my lack of college credits. But my admissions counselor made is sound like there’s a slim chance for me.

Anyways, best of luck to all of you applying! Hope you all get in & keep us posted!

@umichtransfer135‌ When I applied as a senior I’m high school, it was a 3.8 and it was also weighted. The 3.9 is my HS gpa for all 8 seamless with weight and I’m sure it’s lower unweighted. It never said specifically of the application was complete or not. I submitted my app Jan 11 and got my umich ID the 15th.

@transfergirl2015 Congrats! As an employee of the University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions, welcome!!

Your stats are REALLY similar to my GF’s (She’s in LB at MSU though) which gives me a great feeling. She submitted around the same time as you which has me really nervous now.

Anyways, Go Blue!

When did you apply and which school did you transfer into?

Accepted this morning!

Freshman at WMU, 27 transferrable credits.

Stats:
4.11 HS GPA (w)
32 ACT
3.8 College GPA
LSA Applicant

I was rejected from Engineering as a freshman applicant last year, but have since switched my intended major to a pre-med degree, so LSA it is.

Hey guys, does wolverine access ever mark your application as complete or not? I contacted the school and they assured me they received everything, but I was under the impression they would mark it on wolverine access. I’m not worried as they’ve told me I’m good, but it seems odd to me.

Devink023, when did you submit your app?

I submitted it on January 12th @yonceknowles

People who are rejected will never have the “View Decision” link pop up on WA. On my old application from when I applied as a senior in high school (deferred then rejected) it still has the “View Application Date” and “View Credentials,” but never the “View Decision.” If it hasn’t popped up yet, I wouldn’t worry. Keep checking!!

I found out my decision three ways:
First was the WA “view decision” link appearing. I checked at 11:10 am.
Second was that they emailed my transfer equivalencies BEFORE I got my official email. 11:22 am
Third was when my email came at 3 pm.

@boilerup4purdue It never says specifically if the application is complete or not on WA. Call the admissions office and they will tell you if it is complete.

Since most of you guys that are getting decisions back applied Jan 12th-15th it seems, I’m guessing those of us that applied on the final day are getting our decisions probably 2-3 weeks from now.

Got rejected today. College GPA-4.0. High school GPA-3.8 and 26 ACT. 28 transferrable credits and I’m a freshman at MSU.I applied January 28th, so I found out in two weeks.

@goblue2096 how did you find out? through maul or through view decision on WA?

@NCXfer‌ Mail. I was informed that your chances are very slim transferring for this term if you’re not junior standing. However, they gave me the option to already send my application in for the Winter term so all I have to do is send my transcript for this current semester

Did you apply COE or LSA?

@goblue2096. Hmm. I fall just short of junior standing (54 credits by the time I would start there) but I have a 4.0. I really don’t know what to expect.

Alrighty, I checked the status of my application this morning and they were still missing my high school transcript, I just checked now and it says they received it today(or they processed it today) so today is when my application is considered complete. I applied on 1/29, so I’m going to keep you all updated on the amount of time for a decision. I applied CoE. Now the waiting begins, I’m a nervous wreck already!

@NCXfer‌ You have almost double the credits that goblue had. You are in good shape, if you get rejected I will be very surprised. What is your intended major again?

I agree that the rest of us may have to wait at least three weeks before hearing back.

Can we get a refresher on everyone’s stats that are still waiting to hear back?
