I’m pretty sure you’ll get in to other schools you like and enjoy it there. And then there’s always transferring.

I always said I would make sure to post in these decision threads when I got my notifications because I always perused these boards when I was doing my own applications. To any high school juniors thinking about college, I just have a bit of advice. Don’t apply to more than 10 schools, try less if you could. I know what it feels like to be that overachiever, wanting to “keep your options open,” but seriously – the essays will pile up, the fees will pile up, and god help you when every school wants a seperate financial aid form on top of the FAFSA and CSS. Apply to your favorites, the practical, and a few reaches because thats what its all about hahah. Practice SAT tests too, a little bit of work can skyrocket you into a whole new echelon of schools and merit money.
I’m glad to have gotten in, the whole out of state situation made me a little nervous. UVA gave me a nice financial aid package even though I was a little late applying for it and I will probably end up going. I still have to visit but I’ve only heard good things.

Westernwall - it was that experience as a busboy that put you over the top.

Good advice - it is better to have 10 really good applications (with some personalized essays) than 20 mediocre applications. Students should just make sure that their admissions safeties are also financial safeties - including taking into account what may happen if your family’s financial situation runs into some unexpected difficulties.

wow westernwall I was also admitted into UVA’s engineering. Though I’m still waiting for my financial package, hope its really good
